Ex

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray that God will give my ex a wake up call to change and come to faith in him (which with the problems he has in his life right now, may be happening). Thank you.

We join with you in lifting up your ex before the Lord and we thank you for having a heart that desires his eternal good rather than just your own comfort. It is a beautiful and godly thing to pray for the salvation of another, even one who is no longer close to you, and we are encouraged that you see the difficulties he is facing as a possible opening for God to work in his life.

We want to gently remind you that our prayers are heard only through Jesus Christ. You mentioned faith in Him, which is good, but we want to make it clear that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and it is only through Him that anyone can be saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 If your ex is to have a true wake up call, it must be a turning to Jesus Himself, confessing Him as Lord and believing God raised Him from the dead. If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

We hear your hope that his present problems may be used by God to draw him. Scripture tells us that God desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:4 and that The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 Often God does use hardship to soften a hard heart and to show a person their need for Him. We pray that this is what He is doing now, that He would give your ex a new heart and a new spirit as He promises, I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. Ezekiel 36:26

We also want to encourage you regarding this past relationship. Because he is your ex, we urge you to guard your heart and to entrust him fully to the Lord rather than trying to be the one to bring about his change. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23 If there is any thought of reconciliation, we encourage you to view relationships biblically as courtship with the goal of godly marriage between a man and a woman who are both believers in Christ, not simply as dating or getting back together. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 6:14 A future marriage that honors God must be built on shared faith and on purity, for God calls us to flee sexual immorality and to honor Him with our bodies, keeping intimacy within the lifelong covenant of marriage. We pray you will seek a godly spouse if it is His will for you to marry, and that you will not re-enter a relationship with this man unless he has truly come to faith and you are both pursuing the Lord together toward marriage.

We pray together for him now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this young man to You. We ask that You would open his eyes to see his need for a Savior and that You would use even the painful problems he is facing right now to wake him up to Your truth. Lord, soften his heart, convict him of sin, and draw him to repentance and faith in Jesus. Give him a new heart that desires You above all else and deliver him from whatever is binding him. We ask that Your Holy Spirit would work powerfully in his life and that he would call upon the name of Jesus and be saved. And Father, we also lift up the one who prayed for him, give her peace as she entrusts him to Your hands, help her to set healthy and biblical boundaries, heal any hurt from this past relationship, and guide her steps as she seeks to follow You. We know You work all things together for good for those who love You. Romans 8:28 Help her to rest in Your will and Your timing. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray for him from a distance, to release him to God, and to focus on your own walk with Christ. Trust that God loves him even more than you do and is able to complete the work He has begun.

We're grateful you brought your ex before the Lord in this way. It says a lot that you still want God's best for him even though you're no longer together, and that you're watching for any sign God might be getting his attention through these hard circumstances.

It's understandable to hope for a clear wake up moment. In our experience coming to faith and real life change often look less like a single dramatic try and more like training over time, small faithful steps that God uses to shape a heart. That can make prayer feel slow, but it also means every prayer matters even when you don't see immediate results.

A steady way forward is to keep your prayers for him simple and consistent, and to leave the work of conviction and change in God's hands rather than feeling you need to make it happen or monitor his progress. Keeping loving boundaries while you pray helps protect your own heart too.

Father, we lift this man to You. You see the problems he is facing and You know what he needs most. Draw him to Yourself, open his eyes to Your truth and give him a willingness to turn toward You. Give our friend peace as she entrusts him to Your care and wisdom for each next step. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for one who was once near to you is a right and tender burden, and it is good that you would see his soul saved rather than merely his circumstances eased. We will join you in asking the Lord to grant him that awakening which only grace can give.

Salvation is not by our own resolve or reformation, but by Divine Grace through faith in Christ Jesus alone. As the Scripture says, with the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. No man can perform religion for another. His faith must be his own faith, his repentance the repentance of his own sin, his coming to Christ his own coming. We cannot believe for him, but we can roll his burden upon the Lord, who hears prayer and who by His Spirit works faith where there was unbelief.

It may be that the Lord is already using these present troubles to stir him, for He often makes the storm the means to make the sinner look out from himself. Our text says, Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth. There is one way of salvation for all, and it is a look unto Jesus Christ crucified. We rest not upon our faith, or our prayers, or our conquests of sin, but upon Jesus who is all our salvation, the Author and Finisher of faith. Simple faith in Him is itself the work of the Spirit, and where the Spirit works, that faith will be tenderly regarded though it be but as a grain of mustard seed.

Therefore let us pray that the Holy Spirit will open his eyes to see his need, give him faith to look unto Christ, and bring forth in him that fear of God which begets obedience. May he be brought to confess with his own mouth the Lord Jesus as the ground of his confidence, and to prove that confession by a life made new.

We will pray for him now, that God in His mercy would grant him a true wake up call, not merely to change his outward course, but to be made a new creature by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that you may be sustained in faithful, patient intercession, committing the whole matter of his salvation into the hands of Him whose honor is engaged to save all who look unto Him.

This is probably a long shot but please pray that maybe somehow, my ex and I could get back together. We broke up because he wasn't a Christian. I hope that has changed by now. If it has, please pray that maybe God would allow us together. Thank you.
