We hear the ache in your request and we join with you in seeking God's peace and healing in this area. We commend you for recognizing that God does not want you with this person and for desiring to align your heart and thoughts with His will. That discernment is a gift and a step of obedience, and God will honor it.
We know how persistent thoughts can be when the heart has been attached to someone, even when we know the relationship is not God's best. Scripture reminds us that God cares deeply about our brokenheartedness and our thought life. Psalm 147:3 tells us He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. And 2 Corinthians 10:5 calls us to be throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. Philippians 4:8 also encourages us, Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things. God does not just want to remove thoughts of this person, He wants to renew your mind and fill it with what is true and pure and hopeful in Him.

Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Give strength to turn away when memories or feelings arise, and fill the mind with whatever is true and pure and lovely. We pray You would guard this heart and keep it from returning to what You have closed, and that You would give a clear and settled release from this attachment. We trust Your promise in Jeremiah 29:11 that For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. It is a mark of grace in your soul that you desire to turn away from that which God would not have you pursue, and to have your thoughts no more entangled where they ought not to be. We join our hearts with yours in prayer and thank God for this wise and holy desire, for the grace of God can lead you to turn away from that which you have eagerly followed, and cause you to seek after that which you have disregarded.
There is abundant healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the leaves, the little things as it were about Christ, are full of healing virtue. The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. These healing leaves change the life blood, affect the spirits and make the nature other than it was before. When the Lord comes and dwells with His people, the Sun of Righteousness rises upon them with healing in His wings, and pardon and healing are as one in His hand. What you feel now, this woundedness of heart and weariness of thought, He is able to heal, for the utmost length of human sickness can be reached by this great Physician.
We pray that the Lord will grant you this healing. May He forgive all that needs forgiving and then lift the burden from your mind, so that you may think of this person no more with longing or distress, but with the quietness of one who has been delivered. May He give you grace to go in peace, to attend to your ordinary duties, to fulfill your calling as before God, and to find your thoughts stayed upon Christ. As you go to your home, as you go through the days to come, may you hear the Saviour saying, Go in peace, and may that peace which passes all understanding keep your heart and mind.
