We join you in praying in Jesus' name for this man, your former companion who is also your landlord, and we agree with you that Luke 9:24 holds the key to his eternity. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same will save it. Luke 9:24
We praise God that you desire his salvation above all else, even above the resolution of the rented apartment situation. That is the heart of Christ, who desires that all should come to repentance, for the Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
We also hear your prayer that the Lord Jesus reigns over darkness and that His light expels all darkness and unclean spirits. We agree, for Jesus said, I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life. John 8:12 and if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7 We pray that any influence of darkness or confusion in his life or in that apartment would be broken as he submits himself to God, for we are told, Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7
We do want to gently speak to the relationship you referenced as ex. If this was a romantic relationship outside of marriage, we encourage you to see this season through God's design for relationships. We believe courtship should be with the goal of marriage between a man and a woman who are both believers in Christ, a lifelong covenant before God. If there was any sexual intimacy outside of marriage, scripture calls that fornication and calls us to flee from it, for every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 We say this not to condemn you but to encourage you in holiness and healing, and to pray that both of you would pursue purity and seek a godly spouse if marriage is God's will, rather than returning to a relationship that is not aligned with biblical principles. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 6:14
We pray together for him now.
Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, through whom alone we have access to You and through whom alone we are saved, for there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 We lift up this landlord to You and ask for Your mercy and grace upon him. Lord, open his eyes to see that trying to save his life on his own terms will lead to losing it, but surrendering his life to Jesus will save it. Grant him repentance and faith, that if he will confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in his heart that You raised him from the dead, he will be saved. Romans 10:9 Give him a new heart and put a new spirit within him. Ezekiel 36:26
We ask that he would hear Your voice concerning Your holy plan for his life, not through confusion but through Your Word and Your Spirit, and that he would present his body as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, and be transformed by the renewing of his mind, that he may prove what is Your good, well-pleasing, and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2 Let Your light shine into every dark place in his life and expel all darkness, and let everyone involved see Your greatness and power. We also ask for Your peace and wisdom over this rented apartment situation, that Your will be done and that You would be glorified in how it is resolved, and that You would guard our sister's heart as she trusts You and walks in forgiveness and holiness.
We thank You for Your love and faithfulness, for You are faithful even when we are not, and Your steadfast love endures forever. We declare victory not by our power but by the power of Jesus Christ who has overcome the world. We ask all this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
