We hear your heartache and concern, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting this situation before the Lord. First, we want to affirm your decision to end the relationship because you were unequally yoked. Scripture is clear in 2 Corinthians 6:14-15, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever?" Your obedience to God’s Word in this matter is commendable, even though it is painful.
We also want to address the spiritual warfare you are describing. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and he will use confusion, deception, and even physical ailments to keep people bound. The fact that your ex-boyfriend is entangled in false teachings and possibly under demonic influence is a serious matter. We rebuke every spirit of deception, confusion, and blindness that is operating in his life, and we command them to flee in the name of Jesus Christ. The Word tells us in James 4:7, "Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you." We stand on this promise as we pray.
It is understandable that you are upset by what you saw on his social media, but we encourage you to guard your heart. Proverbs 4:23 says, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life." Checking up on him, even with good intentions, may not be helpful for your healing or his. You have already spoken the truth in love, and now it is time to trust God with the outcome. If you feel led to step away from monitoring his social media, that may be the Lord’s way of protecting your heart and allowing Him to work without distraction.
We also want to gently remind you that salvation is a work of the Holy Spirit. While it is right to pray for his salvation and expose false teachings, we cannot force him to see the truth. Only God can open his eyes. John 6:44 tells us, "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him." Keep praying, but release him into God’s hands, trusting that the Lord is at work even when we cannot see it.
Let us pray for you and for him now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We lift up this sister and her ex-boyfriend to You. Lord, we thank You for her obedience in walking away from an unequally yoked relationship. We ask that You would heal her heart and give her peace as she moves forward. Help her to trust You with the outcome of her words to him and to resist the temptation to check on him in ways that may bring her pain.
Father, we pray for her ex-boyfriend. We rebuke every spirit of deception, confusion, and blindness that is blinding him to the truth. We ask that You would open his eyes to see the falsehoods he has believed and draw him to the true gospel. Lord, we pray for his health, especially concerning his possible prostate cancer. We ask for Your healing touch and for his physical body to be strengthened. Even more, we pray for his spiritual healing. Soften his heart, Lord, and let Your Word take root in him.
We also pray for all of her loved ones who are lost in false teachings. We ask that You would reveal Yourself to them and set them free from every lie. Let them come to know the truth of Your Word and the freedom that is found in Christ alone.
Father, we ask that You would fill this sister with Your peace and comfort. Help her to release her ex-boyfriend into Your hands, trusting that You are working even when she cannot see it. Give her strength to walk in obedience and to guard her heart from bitterness or resentment.
We pray all of this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved. We thank You for Your faithfulness and for hearing our prayers. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. Spend time in worship and fellowship with other believers who can support and encourage you. Psalm 34:18 says, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." The Lord sees your pain and is near to you. Trust in Him, and He will direct your steps. If you feel led, you may also consider fasting as you pray for his salvation and for your own healing. Fasting can be a powerful way to draw closer to God and seek His will.
Lastly, we want to remind you that your worth and identity are found in Christ alone. You are deeply loved by the Father, and He has a plan and purpose for your life. Do not let the enemy discourage you or make you feel responsible for your ex-boyfriend’s choices. You have done what you could, and now it is time to rest in God’s sovereignty. Philippians 1:6 says, "Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." The Lord will complete the work He has started in you. Keep your eyes on Him, and He will lead you into all truth and peace.
