Ex boyfriend

Good and Faithful Servant
I recently broke up with my ex boyfriend for good due to us being very unequally yoked. He does not want to talk to me now which is understandable. But it does hurt. I'm going to leave him alone for a few days and try to message him in a few days. I don't know if he'll respond but he has many health issues and we were friends before this and I just want to check on him and make sure he's okay. I'll try every now and then to check on him and maybe eventually just have to leave him alone if he never responds again. That will hurt but I guess it'll be necessary. Pray for his health, safety, happiness and most importantly salvation. Pray for my strength because getting no response from him hurts so deeply. Thank you.

We hear the pain in your heart, and we want you to know that your desire to honor God even in the midst of this hurt is commendable. You were right to end a relationship that was unequally yoked, Scripture is clear that believers should not be bound together with unbelievers in such a way. "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Your obedience in this is a testimony to your faith, even when it comes at a personal cost.

It’s natural to care for someone you once shared a deep connection with, especially when they are facing health struggles. However, we must gently remind you that your priority now is to guard your heart. Proverbs 4:23 warns, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life." While your intentions to check on his well-being are kind, repeatedly reaching out when he has made it clear he does not wish to communicate may only prolong your pain and hinder his ability to move forward as well. There is wisdom in giving him space, as you’ve already decided to do, and trusting God to work in his life.

We must also address the reality that your past relationship was not honoring to God if it involved emotional or physical intimacy outside of marriage. Fornication is a sin that separates us from God’s best, and we must repent and turn away from it. "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body" (1 Corinthians 6:18). If this was part of your relationship, we encourage you to confess it before the Lord, receive His forgiveness, and walk in purity moving forward. God’s grace is sufficient to cleanse and restore you.

Most importantly, we must emphasize that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ. "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12). Your concern for his salvation is beautiful, but you cannot save him, only the Holy Spirit can draw him to repentance and faith. Your role now is to pray for him and trust God to work in his life, even if you never hear from him again.

Let us pray with you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister and her ex-boyfriend to You. Lord, we thank You for her obedience in ending a relationship that was not aligned with Your will. We ask that You would heal her heart from the pain of this separation and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Strengthen her, Father, when the silence hurts, and remind her that You are near to the brokenhearted.

We pray for her ex-boyfriend, Lord. You know the depths of his health struggles, and we ask that You would touch his body with Your healing hand. Protect him, Father, and surround him with Your presence. Most of all, we pray for his salvation. Soften his heart, Lord, and draw him to Yourself. Let him come to know the love and grace that can only be found in Jesus Christ. If it is Your will, Lord, let him respond to the gospel and turn from his sins to follow You.

Father, we also ask for wisdom and discernment for this sister as she navigates this season. Help her to guard her heart and trust in Your timing. If it is Your will for her to reach out to him again, give her the words to say. But if it is Your will for her to let him go completely, grant her the strength to do so. Fill her with hope for the future and remind her that You have a plan for her life, a plan to prosper her and not to harm her, to give her a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of loneliness, despair, or temptation that may try to creep into her life during this time. Remind her that she is never alone, for You are her ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). Surround her with godly friends and mentors who can encourage her and point her to You.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.

In this season, we encourage you to immerse yourself in God’s Word and in fellowship with other believers. Spend time in prayer, not just for your ex-boyfriend, but for your own heart as well. Allow God to speak to you through Scripture and fill you with His love. Consider joining a Bible study or small group where you can be encouraged and held accountable in your walk with Christ.

Remember, God is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). This pain will not last forever, and God can use even this season to draw you closer to Him and prepare you for the future He has for you. Trust in Him, lean on Him, and let Him be your strength.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so
