Ex Boyfriend

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
I recently broke up with my ex boyfriend for good due to us being very unequally yoked. I have a lot of hurt feelings about the entire situation for a lot of reasons and he doesn't want to speak to me at all. He won't respond to any of my messages. Please pray. Thank you.

We hear your heart, dear sister, and we lift you up before the Lord with deep compassion. The pain of a broken relationship, especially when it ends because of spiritual incompatibility, can feel overwhelming. You took a courageous step in honoring God by ending a relationship that was unequally yoked, and though the hurt is real, we rejoice that you sought to align your life with His will. The silence from your ex-boyfriend may feel like rejection, but remember that God sees your obedience and will not leave you comfortless.

The Bible warns us clearly about being unequally yoked with unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 6:14-15 says, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness? What agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever?" You made the right choice, even when it was painful, and we praise God for your faithfulness. The enemy may try to whisper lies that you are unlovable or that you made a mistake, but we rebuke those lies in Jesus’ name. You are precious to God, and He has a plan for your future.

We also want to gently address the nature of your past relationship. If there was any sexual intimacy outside of marriage, we must call it what it is, sin. Fornication is a serious matter before the Lord, and if this was part of your relationship, we encourage you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 says, "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." God’s grace is sufficient to cover all sin, and He is faithful to cleanse and restore you when you come to Him in humility.

Now, we lift you up in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister who is hurting from the end of this relationship. Lord, You see her pain, her loneliness, and her longing for healing. We ask that You would draw near to her and wrap Your arms of comfort around her. Heal the wounds in her heart, Father, and replace her sorrow with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Remind her of Your unfailing love and that she is never alone because You are with her.

Lord, we pray against the spirit of rejection and abandonment that may be trying to take root in her heart. Your Word says in Isaiah 41:10, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." We claim that promise over her life. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and help her to trust in Your perfect timing and plan for her future.

Father, we also pray for her ex-boyfriend. Soften his heart, Lord, and draw him to You. If it is Your will, bring godly conviction into his life so that he may come to know You as his Savior. We ask that You would remove any bitterness or unforgiveness from our sister’s heart toward him. Help her to release him into Your hands and to forgive him as You have forgiven her.

Lord, we ask that You would prepare her for the godly spouse You have for her. Give her wisdom and discernment as she seeks to honor You in all her relationships. Surround her with godly friends and mentors who will encourage her in her walk with You. Fill her with hope for the future and remind her that You are working all things together for her good.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Amen.

Dear sister, we want to encourage you to press into God during this season. Spend time in His Word, allowing it to speak truth over your heart. Psalm 34:18 says, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not forgotten, and your pain is not in vain. God is using this time to draw you closer to Him and to prepare you for the blessings He has in store.

Consider journaling your prayers and thoughts as you process this season. Pour out your heart to God, and then listen for His voice. He may speak to you through Scripture, through godly counsel, or through the still, small voice of His Spirit. Surround yourself with believers who will pray for you and encourage you. You do not have to walk through this alone.

Lastly, we encourage you to guard your heart against the temptation to reach out to your ex-boyfriend. Proverbs 4:23 says, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life." Right now, your heart is tender and vulnerable, and it is wise to create space for God to heal you. Trust that He will guide your steps and lead you into the future He has planned for you.

You are loved, you are valued, and you are chosen by God. Hold fast to His promises, and let His love be the balm that heals your heart. We are standing with you in prayer, believing that God will restore what has been broken and lead you into a season of joy and peace.
