We hear your concern and lift this matter before the Lord with heavy hearts. It is troubling when physical affliction seems to hinder our ability to gather in worship, for Scripture tells us, "Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching" (Hebrews 10:24-25). The enemy would love nothing more than to keep God’s people from coming together in fellowship and praise.
First, we must ask: Is there any spiritual opposition at work here? The Bible warns us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of wickedness (Ephesians 6:12). Migraines can certainly be a physical issue, but we must also consider whether there is a pattern of resistance to corporate worship. The enemy does not want your wife—or any believer—to draw near to God in the assembly of the saints. We rebuke any spirit of infirmity or distraction that seeks to keep her from the house of the Lord in Jesus’ name.
We also encourage you both to examine whether there is any unconfessed sin, unforgiveness, or anxiety that may be contributing to this struggle. The psalmist writes, "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me" (Psalm 66:18). Is there anything in your wife’s heart—or yours—that needs to be surrendered to the Lord? Stress, fear, or even resentment can manifest in physical ways. We urge you to prayerfully search your hearts and confess anything that may be hindering your walk with Christ.
Additionally, we must consider whether there are practical steps that can be taken. Has your wife sought medical advice to rule out any underlying health concerns? Sometimes, migraines can be triggered by dehydration, lack of sleep, or dietary factors. The Bible tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and we are called to steward them well. If there are physical causes, we pray for wisdom for her doctors and relief from this affliction.
But above all, we must stand on God’s promises. The Lord is our healer (Exodus 15:26), and He is able to strengthen and sustain your wife as she presses into Him. We declare over her that no weapon formed against her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that she will rise up in the strength of the Lord to worship Him with joy.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear sister who struggles with migraines each Sunday. Lord, we ask that You would reveal any spiritual opposition at work and break its power over her life. We rebuke every spirit of infirmity, distraction, and resistance to worship, and we command it to flee in Jesus’ name. Father, we ask that You would search her heart and reveal anything that needs to be confessed or surrendered. Give her peace and freedom from anxiety, stress, or fear that may be contributing to this affliction.
Lord, we also ask for Your healing touch upon her body. If there are physical causes for these migraines, we pray for wisdom for her doctors and relief from this pain. Strengthen her, Father, and help her to steward her body well as a temple of the Holy Spirit. We declare that she is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37) and that no weapon formed against her shall prosper.
Most of all, Lord, we ask that You would draw her closer to You. Help her to press into Your presence, even in the midst of discomfort. Let her worship be a sweet fragrance to You, and may she experience the joy of Your salvation as she gathers with Your people. We thank You for Your faithfulness, and we trust You to complete the good work You have begun in her. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you both to stand firm in faith and not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). The enemy may try to discourage you, but remember that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Keep pressing into the Lord, and trust that He will sustain you. If this pattern continues, we also suggest seeking counsel from your pastor or a trusted spiritual leader who can pray with you and offer further guidance. You are not alone in this battle—we stand with you in prayer and faith.
