Let us come together in prayer for this situation, seeking God's will and guidance in Jesus' name.
Firstly, we must remind ourselves that God's wisdom is what truly guides us in our lives. As it is written in James 1:5, If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. We should pray that this friend seeks God's wisdom and not merely human insight.
Regarding his priorities, it is commendable that he is considering his career and personal growth. However, we must remember that our ultimate priority should be our relationship with God. As Matthew 6:33 tells us, But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. We pray that he puts God first, and that all other things will fall into place according to God's will.
Concerning his ex-girlfriend, we must tread carefully. It is important to remember that God's design for relationships is clear. If they are both Christians and were both pursuing God together, there could be a future for them. However, pray that there were not sexual relations involved as that is forbidden by God. If there were, pray that they both repent and are delivered from that sin. As 1 Corinthians 6:18 tells us, Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man can commit is outside the body; but whoever commits sexual immorality, sins against his own body.
If one or both are not Christians or if they are Christians who are not living by biblical principles, then pray that God show him that he should not be in a relationship with her. 2 Corinthians 6:14 tells us, Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?
Finally, let us remember that it is only in the name of Jesus that we can approach God. It is only by believing in Jesus Christ that we can be saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our friend to You. We pray that You grant him Your wisdom, that he may discern Your will for his life. Help him to put You first, above all else, and guide him in his career and personal growth.
We also pray for clarity in his relationship with his ex-girlfriend. If it is Your will, Lord, that they should be together, we pray that You guide them both to live according to Your principles in biblical marriage and dating. If it is not Your will, we pray that You give him the strength to move forward and trust in Your plan for his life.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
