Disciple of Prayer
Please pray with me that God will open a door with me for work and my career. I can hardly make ends meet and I don't know what to do anymore, I am just desperate.

We join with you in this desperate time and lift your need for employment and provision before our Heavenly Father together in Jesus' name. We hear the weight of hardly making ends meet and not knowing what to do, and our hearts ache with you, but we know that God sees your struggle and cares deeply for you.

We want to gently remind you of a vital truth, that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God. You asked for God to open a door, which is good, but we come to the Father only through His Son. Jesus said, John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Scripture also says Acts 4:12 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord, for Romans 10:9 says if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray and find our hope.

God knows your need for work and He is your provider. He promises Philippians 4:19 My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And we are told Matthew 6:31-33 Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.

We also remember that God has created us for good work and that He honors diligence. Whatever work He provides, we are to do it with all our heart as unto Him, Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. And 2 Thessalonians 3:10 reminds us of the importance of willing work. While we trust God to open doors, we also continue to faithfully seek, apply, and use the gifts He has given us, trusting that He will guide our steps. Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. And Revelation 3:8 tells us that God sets before us an open door which no one can shut.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear one to You. Lord, You see the financial pressure, the desperation, and the weariness of not knowing what to do. We ask You to have mercy and to open a door of employment and career opportunity that no man can shut. Provide work that is suitable and sustaining, where our friend can use the talents You have given and earn an honest living to meet every need. Grant favor with employers and wisdom to know where to look and what steps to take. We pray for peace to guard this heart and mind, as Philippians 4:6-7 teaches, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Help our friend to seek Your kingdom first and to rest in Your faithful provision, knowing that You will never forsake those who trust in You, for Psalm 37:25 says I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread. Sustain daily needs while You prepare the right door, and let this trial draw our friend closer to Jesus. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

We encourage you to keep praying without ceasing, to keep diligently seeking work each day, to reach out to your local church or trusted believers for practical help and counsel, and to rest in the Lord's faithfulness. He has not forgotten you and He will make a way.

We have been sitting with your request and praying for you. That desperation when work has not come through and you can hardly make ends meet is a heavy, wearing place to be. We are sorry you are carrying this.

When income is uncertain it can start to feel like your worth is uncertain too. We want to gently remind you that who you are before God is not measured by a paycheck, even while the financial pressure you are facing is very real and deserves practical attention.

One step that often helps in this kind of season is to get a clearer picture on paper. Try jotting down your skills, past experience, interests and the kinds of work you have done well, then share that list with one or two wise and trusted people who know you well, perhaps a pastor, mentor, or someone at a local employment or career center. When we are anxious it is hard to see options clearly, and another set of eyes can often spot a connection or opening you might miss alone.

It can also help to name the most immediate pressure point, whether it is rent, utilities or another bill, and invite specific help for that one need. Many churches and community agencies have people who can walk with you on budgeting and short term assistance while you continue looking. You do not have to sort all of this alone, and we encourage you to let someone nearby support you in practical ways as we keep praying.

Father, we lift our friend to You today. You see the need for work and the worry about daily provision. Give wisdom for the next step, guidance through trusted counsel, and Your peace in the waiting. Provide for what is needed today and lead to the door You have for the days ahead. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your cry concerning work and the burden of making ends meet has been laid before the Lord with you. To be brought to the border of desperation and to not know what to do anymore is a painful place, yet it is often there that the soul learns what it is to need a Guide.

The psalmist said, You shall guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. This guidance comes not because we are wise enough to find our own course, but because a work of grace has taught us that we cannot guide ourselves. His wisdom is our guidance, His love is our perpetual shield, His infinity is our storehouse. When we bow with submission to the will of God, by that very fact we are furnished with unerring guidance. There are great principles infused in every one who takes God for his Guide, among them to avoid everything that is evil and to walk in honest diligence before Him. And remember also that haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life. Therefore seek His counsel in prayer and in His Word and by the wise counsel of those who walk faithfully with Him, and wait upon His timing for the open door He alone can open.

You write as one clutching at the roots of a tree which grows out of the bank, maintaining hold in desperation and feeling that if you let go you shall be dashed in pieces. Hear then the word to the desponding one on the border of desperation. Have you never heard of the freeness of God's mercy. The ground of God's love is God's love and nothing in us. He who guided David while he was yet a shepherd boy is able to guide your steps in this matter of employment and to provide for your daily bread according to His goodness which never fails. On earth there is no real glory for us unless we are guided by God's counsel, and there is no true glory for any man who takes his own course.

Let us pray together for you.

O Lord our heavenly Father, You know the need of Your servant who seeks work and provision for this life. In Your wisdom open a door for honest labour where none now appears, grant favour with those who have the power to employ, and give skill and strength for the career You have appointed. Keep this tried heart from despair and from hasty courses, and teach quiet submission to Your counsel. Provide for daily wants out of Your infinite storehouse, and let this trial end in a testimony of Your faithfulness, till You shall afterward receive Your servant to glory. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour, who laid down His life for the sheep. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
