Employment

Disciple of Prayer
Hello. May the Lord bless you and keep you!
I thank everyone who's been praying for my requests so far. I'm posting again because I've hit a bump on my road to employment. I've passed the interview and work sample check. Now I'm stuck on the reference stage. One of my references came through right away, another one is taking a long time. The website through which references are collected sends multiple reminders and it shows the person accessed the reference sheet, but I don't know if they did it to fill out eventually or to stop getting reminders. I submitted another person as a reference from the same place as the second one, but they declined to give a reference. I asked the hiring supervisor if I can provide as one of my references a team leader of the place I've been volunteering at for a bit over a year but have not heard back yet.
Please pray for my reference to come through and for the rest of the hiring process to succeed!
Thank you again and may the Lord bless you greatly!

We understand your frustration and anxiety as you navigate this critical stage in your employment journey. The waiting period can be challenging, but we stand with you in prayer, trusting that the Lord is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). Let us lift this situation to Him, asking for His divine intervention and guidance.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your favor and grace in this time of waiting. Lord, we ask that You soften the hearts of those who have been slow to respond or hesitant to provide references. Grant them the willingness and clarity to complete this task promptly, so that Your will may be done in this employment opportunity. We pray that You would open doors that no one can shut and close doors that are not meant for this dear one (Revelation 3:7-8). Father, we also ask that You provide wisdom and favor with the hiring supervisor. May they recognize the value and integrity of this individual, and may they be open to accepting the alternative reference from the team leader at the place of volunteering.

Lord, we know that You are the ultimate provider, and we trust in Your timing. Remind this dear one to cast all their anxieties on You, for You care deeply for them (1 Peter 5:7). Strengthen their faith and fill them with peace as they wait, knowing that You are in control. We also pray for patience and perseverance, that they may continue to seek You first in all things, trusting that You will add all these things unto them (Matthew 6:33).

We also want to encourage you to continue seeking the Lord’s will in this process. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Even in the waiting, God is shaping your character and preparing you for the role He has designed for you. Keep your heart aligned with His purposes, and remember that He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6).

Lastly, we want to remind you of the importance of giving thanks in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Even in this season of uncertainty, there is much to be grateful for. Thank God for the references that have already come through, for the opportunity to interview, and for the skills and experiences He has equipped you with. Gratitude shifts our focus from what we lack to the abundance of God’s blessings.

May the Lord bless you abundantly as you continue to seek Him, and may this employment opportunity come to fruition according to His perfect will. We stand with you in faith, believing that God is moving on your behalf.

We feel the weight of this waiting stage with you, you've done the hard work of impressing them with your skills and character, and now the process depends on someone else's timely response. That kind of limbo can be uniquely draining, especially when you've already been working toward this season of employment for a while and just want to move forward.

The fact that you've been volunteering faithfully for over a year, and that you already asked your hiring supervisor about using that team leader as a reference, that shows you're not sitting still. You're doing what you can, and that calm persistence matters. Waiting on other people's schedules is a specific kind of trial for anyone who likes to solve problems and keep moving, and it's worth simply naming that this is hard.

If you haven't heard back from the supervisor after a reasonable window, a brief, warm follow-up note would not be out of place, just checking in, thanking them again, and letting them know you remain very interested. Beyond that, you've done what you can with the piece that belongs to you, and we join you in entrusting the rest to the One who already knows the outcome.

Father, thank you for the doors that have opened so far in this process, the interview, the work sample, the reference that came through quickly. We lift up the person who has the reference form but hasn't completed it yet; please prompt them with clarity and willingness, and settle whatever hesitation or distraction is holding things up. Grant the hiring supervisor wisdom and a responsive heart regarding the volunteer team leader reference. Bring this process to a conclusion that provides for this person's genuine needs, and steady their spirit in the meantime. In Jesus' name.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The mention of a reference delayed, another declined, and a supervisor silent is no small trial when the table is set before you and the hunger for honest labor gnaws within. Yet this is the very field where faith must fix its gaze on the Invisible. God is in one mind, and who can turn Him? What His soul desires, that He does. If He has purposed this employment for you, no tardy reference can frustrate it; if He withholds it, it is because He conceals a matter for your good, and it is His glory to do so. Your business is not to fret over the hands of men, but to pour out your tears unto God, as Job did when his friends scorned him. Tears put into His bottle, libations poured at His altar, have a rhetoric that melts its way into the heart of the Almighty.

Behold, God is mighty and despises not any. He does not overlook your diligence in the interview, nor your steady faithfulness in volunteering. He who marks the sparrow's fall has heard every prayer breathed on your behalf. I urge you now to speak on God's behalf by waiting only upon Him. Let your soul be silent before Him, calm and undisturbed. The world hangs on nothing but the promise of God; let your expectation hang there too. This testing hour is your pulpit. Tell the enemy of your soul that you have yet to speak on God's behalf, by trusting when the path is blocked, by rejoicing before the answer dawns. If God gives quietness, who then can make trouble? Go to your chamber and seek His face until you find Him, for prayer has a wonderful effect on God. Then rise and serve Him, come what may, knowing that they who wait on the Lord shall not want any good thing.

Do you not see that every day is a fight, a tempest and a storm? You have passed through the interview and the work sample, and now the rocks of reference threaten to sink your boat. Where is the weapon of prayer? If at the morning dawn we meditate on these things, we go forth with much security, having made God propitious by supplication. Why then do you let anxiety gnaw at you? Consider Abraham, who against hope believed, his body now dead, the deadness of Sarah’s womb, yet he did not stagger. Are your obstacles greater than these? If God has opened a door, shall He not also loose the tongues of those called to testify?

But do not say in your heart, “What need have I of another’s prayer, if I myself am on the alert?” For Paul did not speak so, though he was Paul, nor Peter, though prayer was made earnestly of the Church for him. You have need of prayer precisely because you think you have none. Yet neither rely on the prayers of others while you yourself sleep. Wake, and pray early and by night. For the help of the Saints profits nothing if we perish through own sloth.

And see how prayers have profited when men pleased God: Cornelius, Tabitha, Jacob delivered from Laban, for the Fear of his father was with him. But when wickedness prevailed, even Noah, Daniel, and Job could not deliver sons or daughters. Therefore, order your own life in righteousness, and the prayer of the just will avail for you. Do not grasp after more than need requires in these passing things, but seek a superabundance in spiritual things, that even in this trial you may send up thanksgiving to God. For if He supplies your need, the Saints will glorify Him for the obedience of your confession.

I know the waiting can wear you down. You’ve done your part, passed the interview, submitted the work sample, and lined up references. Now you’re stuck in that uncomfortable gap where the outcome depends on someone else’s response, and the silence can feel heavy. It’s in moments like these that our faith gets stretched and the call to patience becomes very personal.

Scripture tells us plainly that we have need of patience, so that after we’ve done the will of God we might obtain what He has promised. You’re not alone in this tension. Think of Abraham, who received an incredible promise but then waited long years before he saw it fulfilled. He had to trust God’s timing, not his own schedule. The God who made that promise is the God of patience, long-suffering with us, never in a hurry but always at work. He’s not indifferent to your waiting; He’s using it to deepen your hope.

If we hope for what we do not yet see, we learn to wait for it with steady hearts. Whether it’s an unreturned reference form or a door that hasn’t swung open yet, these delays aren’t meaningless. They train us to look past the immediate frustration and fix our confidence on the One who holds every detail. The Scriptures are given to give us patience and comfort, because they show us a God who hasn’t forgotten you. His apparent slowness isn’t rejection, it’s often mercy, making room for something we can’t yet see.

I won’t pretend it’s easy. Most of us appreciate patience from others far more than we extend it ourselves. But what you’re learning right now is how to endure with hope. Don’t grow slothful or let discouragement take root. You’ve done the will of God by pursuing honorable work and trusting Him. Now follow the example of those who through faith and patience inherited the promises. You’re not alone, and this season will bear fruit if you don’t give up.

I’m praying that the reference comes through soon, that the hiring process succeeds, and that in the meantime your heart is established in His peace. The Lord bless you and keep you.
