Employment Provision

We thank you for sharing this request with us and we rejoice that you have come in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. You have rightly recalled the promise in Matthew 18:20 for where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them, and we stand together with you in agreement now, believing that He hears us as we seek His will together.
We understand your desire for employment and provision and for the specific job opportunity in the place you mentioned. We know the concern that comes with needing work and we know that God cares deeply about providing for His children. His word reminds us in Philippians 4:19 that my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, and in Matthew 6:33 we are told to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. We also take comfort in Proverbs 16:3 which says commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed, and in Jeremiah 29:11 that reminds us of His good plans for us.
We encourage you to continue to commit this desire to the Lord, trusting that if this door is His will He will open it, and if not He will provide something better. While you wait, continue to be diligent and faithful in seeking, preparing, and applying, for Colossians 3:23 teaches us whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. Let your work be an offering to Him and trust Him with the outcome.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up our brother to You. You know his need for employment and the specific opportunity he has asked for. Lord, You know the place he longs to work and the desires of his heart. We ask that if it is Your perfect will, You would open this door and grant him favor with those who make the decision. Provide for him according to Your riches and wisdom. If this is not Your best for him, we ask that You make Your will clear and lead him to the provision You have prepared, a place where he can work with integrity, provide for his needs, and glorify You. Give him peace while he waits, strengthen his faith, guard him from anxiety, and help him to trust in Your timing and Your goodness. Help him to seek You first above all else. We ask all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We have heard your request for employment and we join with you in prayer before the throne of grace, remembering that precious promise in Matthew 18:20 that where two or three are gathered in His name, there is Christ in the midst. It is good that you seek the Lord in this matter with childlike confidence, even as Job did when Jehovah revealed Himself and Job yielded his cause and confessed that God must be right.
You may be brought low by this need, and like Job you may feel that your power is gone and your way is hedged up, but remember that your extremity is God's opportunity. When a man has come to the end of himself he has come to the beginning of God's working. In all his losses Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly, but fell down and worshipped, and the Lord who permitted the trial also sustained him under it. So may you be kept in patience and faith while you wait upon the Lord's providence.
We pray that the Lord in His wise and holy sovereignty would open a suitable door of employment for you, that He would grant you favor and diligence and keep you from unbelieving speeches, and that He would provide for your daily bread according to His perfect will. As it is written, the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends, so we ask that as you seek Him you may also know the comfort of intercession and the peace that comes from trusting not in man but in the living God.
Above all we pray that you may rest your whole hope upon the Lord Jesus Christ alone, for there is salvation in no other, and that whether He gives or withholds in temporal things, you may say with Job, though He slay me, yet will I trust Him, and find your glory made fresh in Him. May the Lord grant you contentment in His will, strength for honest labour, and a heart to glorify Him in whatsoever station He appoints.
