employment in church office ?

promised employed in my church office. they mention will work with lou and the staff as of today no start date was given. attend numerous bible studies, plus can only earn so much so one doesn't pay back overage to social security (each $1.00 over pay $2.00 back) will does one start? think these people are playing games with me.
