Employment blessing

Thank you for opening your heart so honestly and for expressing your love for Jesus and your gratitude to Him. He has not given up on you, and He sees your diligence as you have applied to so many places, your desire to provide for your teenage daughter, and your longing to be present for her daily needs when you have no family or friends nearby to help. That faithful, day to day care as a single mom is precious in His sight.

There is comfort in remembering the story of Job. That book is among the oldest in Scripture, perhaps from the time of Abraham, and it is placed first among the poetry books. Cultures and times have changed, but the deepest issues of life and the needs of the human heart have not. Job was a man whom God Himself described as upright, one who loved God and turned from evil. Yet there was a challenge in heaven where the enemy, who had been studying Job and looking for a way to test him, claimed that Job only served God because God had blessed him and placed a hedge around him. The enemy believed that if the blessings were removed, Job would turn away.

That same accusation helps us see our own hearts. God is not only after our service for what He can give us, but He desires our love for who He is. Your prayer shows that heart. You love Jesus, you thank Him, and you want to be a blessing to others again, not only to receive. God knows that motive.

Job and his friends did not understand what was happening behind the scenes, and his friends only added to his pain by insisting his suffering must mean he had done something wrong and by telling him to simply get right with God. They were miserable comforters. Job himself cried out from deep grief, and much of what he said in that grief was the language of pain, not settled truth about God. Scripture records his words honestly, but we are not to build our view of God on words spoken from sorrow. What we can hold to is this, which Job also affirmed, that God is fair and just, even when we do not understand Him.

What happened to Job also gives us hope for your situation. It shows that God is at work even when it feels as if He has forsaken us. He had not forsaken Job, and He has not forsaken you. Even when interviews do not come and the waiting is long, He is still present, still caring for you and your daughter, and still able to open the right door.

I will pray for you. Father, in the name of Jesus, I bring this dear mother and her daughter before You. You know her love for You and her faithfulness to keep seeking work. You know every application she has sent and every need in her home. I ask that according to Your will You would open doors for interviews, and if the Specialist Quality Assurance position that allows remote work is Your best for her and for her daughter, I ask You to grant favor there. Provide work that allows her to be present for her child, to meet her daily needs, to earn a good and honest salary, to save again, and to be generous to others. Bless the workplace You provide, that it would be healthy and stable, and give her peace and strength while she waits. Help her to trust that You are just and good, and that You are working for her good even in this season of uncertainty. Draw her closer to Jesus, who alone stands between God and us and brings us near to You. Amen.

Keep seeking the Lord and bringing your requests to Him. He hears, He cares, and He will provide in the way that is best. Rest in His care for you and your daughter, and trust His timing and His will above any one specific outcome.
