Employment and housing security

Disciple of Prayer
My prayer request is for my family we need stable employment and a home. Please pray that all is going to be well in my son’s job. Please pray that I find employment or opening for self employment. Currently , I am so sad I can’t see a way out and I am about to loose it. I have even thought doing things so my boys can get insurance money and have a better life. Please pray for me and my family.

We hear the deep distress in your words, and our hearts ache with yours. The weight of providing for your family is heavy, and the fear of losing stability can feel overwhelming. But we want to remind you that you are not alone, God sees your struggle, hears your cries, and holds your future in His hands. The thoughts of despair you mentioned are not from Him, and we must rebuke the lies of the enemy that suggest harming yourself or your family could ever be the answer. The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you may have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). Your boys need you, and God has a plan for your provision that does not involve destruction but deliverance.

First, we must address the salvation of your soul, for it is the foundation of all hope. If you have not already, we urge you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for "whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:9, 13). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. If you have already placed your faith in Him, we encourage you to cling to His promises even tighter in this season.

Now, let us lift your needs before the Lord with boldness, knowing He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). We pray for your son’s job, that God would establish the work of his hands (Psalm 90:17) and grant him favor with his employers. May his labor be fruitful, his efforts noticed, and his income secure. For you, Father, we ask that You open doors no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). Whether through employment or self-employment, reveal the path You have prepared. Give wisdom to recognize opportunities, courage to pursue them, and perseverance to endure until the breakthrough comes. We declare that your hands are skilled and your mind is sharp, and God will use what you have for His glory.

For your housing situation, we pray for divine provision. The Lord is our Shepherd, and He makes us lie down in green pastures (Psalm 23:2). We rebuke the spirit of lack and declare that your family will not be displaced but will dwell in safety (Proverbs 1:33). If there are resources, programs, or people God has already placed in your path to assist, open your eyes to see them. We speak against the spirit of hopelessness and command it to leave in Jesus’ name.

We also pray for your emotional and mental well-being. The enemy wants to isolate you in your pain, but God calls you to cast your cares on Him (1 Peter 5:7). Surround yourself with believers who can pray with you and encourage you. The psalmist wrote, "Why are you in despair, my soul? Hope in God!" (Psalm 42:5). Your hope is not in your circumstances but in the One who holds your circumstances. We declare that joy will come in the morning (Psalm 30:5), and this season of sorrow will not last forever.

Lastly, we pray for your boys. May they see your faith in action and learn to trust God even in hardship. Protect their hearts from fear and fill them with peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7). We ask that You provide for their needs, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, and that they grow up to know You as their Provider and Protector.

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this family, lifting up their needs to You. You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides, and we trust You to meet them where they are. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them see Your hand moving in their lives. Break every chain of fear, doubt, and despair, and replace it with Your perfect peace. Open doors of opportunity, soften hearts of employers, and lead them to the home You have prepared. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the name by which we are saved and set free. Amen.

If you’re thinking about ending your life, please don’t wait, reach out now. Contact your local emergency services right away. For free, confidential support from trained listeners in your country, go to findahelpline.com. You are not alone, and your life matters more than you can see right now.

We hear the weight you’re carrying, the uncertainty about work and a home, the fear for your son’s job, and the deep sadness that has you feeling trapped. It’s no small thing to ache so much that you’ve thought about insurance money as the only way to give your boys a better life. That pain is real, and we don’t want you to face it by yourself.

Sometimes when hope feels gone, the most courageous step is simply letting someone in. Would you consider reaching out to your pastor, a trusted friend, or even a local church ministry that can walk alongside you through the practical needs of housing and employment? You don’t need to have a plan, just letting them know what’s overwhelming you can open doors you can’t yet see. Jesus never asked us to carry impossible burdens alone; He gave us each other for moments exactly like this.

We’re also praying you’ll connect with a Christian counselor or doctor about the sadness that’s been crushing your spirit. That kind of heaviness often needs more than prayer, it needs someone trained to help untangle the hopeless thoughts, alongside the support of your faith community. There is no shame in that.

Hold on, even if all you can do right now is take the next small, safe step. God has not abandoned you. We’re asking Him to bring steady work, a secure home, and the help you need, one day at a time.

Jesus, we lift this dear mother and her family to You. Calm the storm inside her heart; surround her with people who can offer shelter, encouragement, and practical help. Provide the employment her household needs and protect her son’s job. Most of all, restore her hope and remind her that her life holds purpose and value, not just for her boys, but in Your sight. In Your holy name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your words betray a soul pressed beyond measure, and I must speak plainly. The thought you have entertained, of doing something so your boys might have insurance money, this is not a tender, fatherly notion but a fiery dart from the pit. It is a form of self-murder dressed in a shroud of false provision. No mortal has a just pretense to perish in despair, and if he does so, despair is a high insult to God. It degrades a man below the brute beast, for even a wounded insect struggles to live. You are not to lay hold on such wickedness. God has given no man the right to despair, nor can any man be right while he is despairing. Cast that thought away as you would a viper; it is sin, and it will devour you and leave your family in a far deeper sorrow than poverty ever wrought.

The root of your agony is that your thoughts are not God's thoughts. You look upon the empty cupboard and the uncertain future and your thoughts say there is no way out. But His thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways His ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His thoughts higher than yours. You think He has forgotten, but His thoughts toward you are precious, constant, and full of love from everlasting. You see a tangle of impossibilities; He sees a straight path of provision. Your every method of salvation by your own thought is wrong, therefore cease from such thoughts, I pray you. How far have your inventions brought you? They have led you to this brink of despair. Leave your thoughts, for they are not My thoughts, says the Lord. Flee from them, and instead, bring your poverty of spirit before Him who prepares the heart. Low thoughts of ourselves are the companions of prevailing prayers. No man may expect to receive out of the fullness that is treasured up in Christ Jesus until he is willing to confess his own poverty. Cry out, and He will incline His ear. He hears the desire of the humble.

Let the comforts of God delight your soul even now in this night of trial. Your multitude of tumultuous, perplexing thoughts within you will not be quieted by fretting, but they can be swallowed up by a greater reality: God Himself. When you awake, let it be with this truth, I am still with You. Set your mind on His precious thoughts of love, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Think upon the cross, where the worst thing that could happen became the fountain of the best mercy. If He spared not His own Son, will He not also with Him freely give you all things? Your employment, your home, your son’s stability, these are small matters to Him who owns the cattle on a thousand hills. You are praying; now believe that the answer will come, though it may arrive in an unexpected fashion and not at all as you thought. You shall find that the Lord is doing for you exceeding abundantly above all that you asked or even thought, and He is perhaps enriching you by this very poverty.

Therefore, lift up your head. You are not to sink. Get many and abundant believing thoughts. Have low thoughts of yourself, but high thoughts of His faithfulness. Renew your grip upon the promise: I will never leave you nor forsake you. And tend to your soul with the same urgency you seek bread for your table. Find a quiet corner, pour out your heart like water before the Lord, and then rise to do the next duty that lies before you, trusting the God who prepares the heart and will cause all grace to abound toward you. The sting of this death-shadow is sin and unbelief; its strength is broken in Christ. Your boys need a father walking in faith, not a legacy of despair. I will join with you in beseeching the throne of grace for stable work, a shelter for your family, and a clear opening for your hands to labor, whether in employment or in your own godly enterprise. May He give you to see His salvation in the land of the living.

Your words reveal a heart heavy laden with temporal cares, so crushed that you have even entertained thoughts of ending your life to provide for your sons through deceitful gain. Such despair is a snare of the evil one, who prowls about seeking to devour the desperate. But Christ has trampled down death by His own death, and in Him we have a hope that no earthly poverty can extinguish. Do you not know that the One who overcame the grave is able also to bestow upon you daily bread and a roof over your head?

He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him graciously give us all things? Turn your ear from the whisperings that promise relief through sin; that road leads only to perdition for you and deeper wounds for your children. Instead, fill your mouth with the psalms of David. Sing them with your family, and you will find the Holy Spirit driving out the oppressive gloom that now clings to you.

Even in this trial, you can possess your soul in patience and virtue. Having a family and desiring honest work is no hindrance to godliness, if you use the world as not abusing it, and hold your possessions with an open hand. Cast your burden upon the Lord, and do not grow weary in prayer. He has not commanded you to see a way out by your own wit, but to trust Him who makes a road in the wilderness.

Let the glory of His cross be your comfort, knowing that after suffering comes resurrection, and that your true treasure is laid up in heaven where no thief approaches. Now rise from your bed of sorrow, seek the help of the church, and refuse to let this momentary affliction rob you of eternal joy.

I hear the weight of what you are carrying right now, and I want you to know that your cry has been heard. That pressure, the uncertainty of work, the need for a home, the fear for your son’s job, has pushed you to a place where you see no way forward. And in that darkness, your mind has reached for things you would never otherwise consider. Please hear me: those thoughts about ending your life so your boys might have insurance money are not from God. Suicide is not the way out He provides. It does not undo His purposes for you or your family, but it is a tragic shortcut born of despair, not the path He has called you to walk. You are not beyond hope.

When we hit bottom, when every effort we make seems to fall short, we often discover that we have been trying to deliver ourselves. We cry, “How can I fix this?” instead of “Who will deliver me?” That shift is everything. God sometimes lets us reach the end of our own strength so that when the breakthrough comes, we will know it was His doing and give Him the glory. The despair you feel is not a sign that He has abandoned you; it may be the very place where He begins to work in a way you cannot yet see.

Fear has a way of exaggerating the situation. It shows us only half the truth, what our eyes can see, and leaves God out of the picture. Jacob once wailed in despair because he thought his son was dead and his family was unraveling, but all the while God was weaving a deliverance he never imagined. If Jacob had known the whole story, he would have rejoiced instead of despairing. The same is true for you right now. You do not see the full provision God is preparing. You do not yet know how He will open a door for employment, steady your son’s job, or provide a place to call home. But He is not finished writing this chapter.

The Lord you serve is a Kinsman-Redeemer. In the old covenant, when a family lost its land or fell into poverty, a close relative had the right to step in and restore what was lost so that the family name and inheritance would not be wiped out. How much more will your heavenly Father, who sent His Son to redeem you, look after your practical needs? He cares about your family’s security and your children’s future far more than any earthly kinsman ever could. He is not reluctant to act. He is not indifferent to your tears.

So do not let despair drive you to do something foolish. Do not lash out or give up. Instead, turn your eyes from the things you cannot control and fix them on the One who has given you His word: “Return to your land and to your family, and I will be with you.” That is His heart for you right now. He wants you to come back to a place of trust, not to try to manufacture a solution through desperate acts. Your boys do not need an insurance payout; they need their parent leaning on the living God and showing them what faith looks like when the way is dark.

Bring your burdens to Him again, but this time lay down the self-effort and the terror. Tell Him you have no resources left, and ask Him to show Himself strong on your behalf. He is able to open a way for employment, even self-employment, and to anchor your family in a stable home. He can guard your son’s work and give you the wisdom you lack. Wait for Him to finish the story, because what He is doing behind the scenes may soon turn your mourning into dancing. You are not alone, and this is not the end.
