Disciple of Prayer
I need prayers for my ### year old Shih Tzu he had a steroid injection on Saturday and ever since then he is having rapid breathing and does not want to eat. We are in hospital now please we need all the prayers we can get.

Thank you

We are lifting up ### and you before the Lord right now in this difficult and worrying time in the hospital, and we understand how heavy it is to watch a beloved companion struggle to breathe and refuse food after his steroid injection on Saturday. We know the Lord sees your care and concern for him and we join with you in asking for His mercy and help.

We are reminded in Scripture that our God cares for all His creation. Proverbs 12:10 says A righteous man respects the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel. And Psalm 36:6 says Yahweh, you preserve man and animal. Jesus Himself taught us of the Father's attentive care when He said in Matthew 10:29 Are not two sparrows sold for an assarion? Not one of them falls on the ground apart from your Father. If He notices even the sparrows, we know He sees ### and He sees your anxious heart as well.

We pray together now in the name of Jesus. Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ and we ask for Your healing hand upon ###. You know his rapid breathing and his weakness and his lack of appetite, and You know what his body is enduring after this injection. We ask that You would calm his breathing, restore his comfort, and give him strength to eat and to rest. We pray for wisdom and steady hands for the veterinarians and staff caring for him, that they would have discernment to find the cause and to provide the right treatment. We ask for Your peace to guard the heart of his owner in this waiting, and we trust Your will which is good and merciful. We ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus, amen.

We want to gently encourage you that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We noticed your request did not mention Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that our prayers are offered through Him, and our hope both for this life and for eternity rests in believing in Him, that He died for our sins and rose again, and that through faith in Him we receive forgiveness and eternal life. If you have not already, we encourage you to call upon His name and trust Him as Savior.

We encourage you to continue to follow the guidance of the veterinary team closely and to keep bringing your requests to God with thanksgiving. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We are continuing to pray with you for ###'s breathing to be eased, for his appetite to return, and for the Lord to grant you His peace and comfort in the days ahead.

We were so sorry to read about ###. Sitting in the hospital watching him breathe so fast and not want to eat is such a hard, helpless feeling, and we can hear how much you love him after all these years together.

We are glad you were able to get him in quickly so the veterinary team can monitor him closely. That is the right place for him right now while you wait for more answers, and we are praying that team has wisdom and clarity as they care for him.

Waiting like this can make it hard to take everything in. If it helps, you might jot down what the veterinarians tell you, the questions you want to ask, and any instructions they give for the next hours. If you have a family member or friend who can be with you, having another set of ears can make it easier to remember details later. Please try to care for yourself in the waiting too, with water and rest when you can.

We are holding you and ### in prayer and we care about you both.

Father, we lift ### to You and ask for Your mercy and gentle care over him. Give skill and discernment to the veterinarians looking after him, ease his breathing and distress, and surround his owner with Your peace in this anxious time. Help them to feel Your nearness and to trust You with each next step. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your cry concerning little ### has been heard, and we bring him and you before the throne of grace in this anxious hour. To watch a beloved creature struggle for breath and refuse food is a sore trial, and to wait in the hospital adds to the heaviness of heart. Yet the Lord saith, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, and He appoints His people to comfort one another, so we would seek to comfort you with the comfort wherewith God comforts us.

We know how anxiety rises in such a moment, and our Saviour bids us not to be torn in pieces with fretful care, for anxiety has never brought grist to the mill nor comfort to the heart, but rather unfits us to meet the difficulty. Instead we are to cast our care upon Him, for He careth for us, and not a sparrow falleth without your Father. How much more does He see you watching by ###, and hear every labored breath.

The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. Though that promise speaks first of the soul's sickness through sin and the healing that comes by forgiveness in Christ alone, yet it shows us the heart of our God, who is full of grace and power to heal. We look to Him who healed with a touch and a word, and we ask His mercy upon this creature He has made.

Let us pray together. O Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, through whom alone is salvation, we come humbly before Thee. Thou hast made all creatures and Thy mercies are over all Thy works. Look in compassion upon ###, this little dog now in distress with rapid breathing and weakness. Lay Thy hand upon him, we beseech Thee, and grant that his breathing may be eased and his strength return, that he may eat and be restored. Give wisdom and skill to those who care for him in the hospital, and guide their hands and judgments. And comfort the heart of his owner, who loves him dearly and is sore troubled. Let Thy Word be their comfort in affliction, quickening and sustaining them, and grant peace that passeth understanding as they wait upon Thee. Not our will but Thine be done, and may all be to Thy glory. Amen.

May the Spirit of God teach you to say even now, This is my comfort in my affliction, for Thy Word hath quickened me. Whether the answer come as we desire or as the Lord in wisdom appoints, may you find Him to be your comfort and your constancy, establishing your heart in every good word and work. We will continue to bear you up before the Lord, trusting His tender care over you and over ###.
