We join with you in lifting up your heart’s cry for forgiveness, deliverance, and renewal, and we are grateful that you have invoked the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father, for Scripture declares, *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). Your plea for mercy is heard because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross, where He bore the weight of our sins so that we might be reconciled to God. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB). We rejoice that you have turned to Him for cleansing and deliverance, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12).
As you seek to move forward, we encourage you to do so with the confidence that comes from knowing your sins are forgiven and your slate is wiped clean. However, moving forward requires more than just a prayer—it demands a surrendered life. Jesus said, *"If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me"* (Matthew 16:24, WEB). This means turning away from the sins that once ensnared you and walking in obedience to God’s Word. If there are specific sins or strongholds in your life, we urge you to name them before the Lord, repent of them, and seek His strength to overcome them. *"Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you"* (James 4:7, WEB).
Deliverance from evil is not a one-time event but a daily commitment to walk in the Spirit rather than the flesh. *"Don’t you know that to whom you present yourselves as servants to obedience, his servants you are whom you obey; whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?"* (Romans 6:16, WEB). We pray that you will cling to the truth of God’s Word, which is your sword against the schemes of the enemy (Ephesians 6:17). Fill your mind with Scripture, surround yourself with fellow believers who can encourage and hold you accountable, and flee from anything that would draw you back into bondage.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy and grace, which are new every morning. We lift up our brother/sister before You, asking that You would wash them clean by the blood of Jesus Christ. Forgive them for every sin—known and unknown—and create in them a clean heart, renewing a right spirit within them (Psalm 51:10). Lord, we ask that You break every chain of sin and stronghold in their life. Deliver them from the snares of the evil one and set their feet upon the rock of Your truth. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in victory and not return to the things from which You have freed them.
Father, as they seek to move forward, grant them wisdom and discernment. Open their eyes to any area of their life that does not align with Your Word, and give them the courage to turn from it. Surround them with godly counsel and fellowship that will strengthen them in their walk with You. Let them not be conformed to this world, but transformed by the renewing of their mind, that they may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2).
We rebuke every plan of the enemy to hinder their progress. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Lord, let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). May they walk in the freedom You have purchased for them and live a life that brings glory to Your name.
We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
As you continue on this journey, we urge you to stay rooted in prayer and the Word of God. If there are specific sins or struggles you are facing, we encourage you to bring them into the light, either before the Lord in prayer or with a trusted believer who can pray with you and hold you accountable. *"Therefore, put away lying, and ‘speak truth each one with his neighbor,’ for we are members of one another. 'Be angry, and don’t sin.’ Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil"* (Ephesians 4:25-27, WEB). The enemy thrives in secrecy, but there is power in confession and transparency before God and His people.
Finally, we leave you with this promise: *"Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; through whom we also have our access by faith into this grace in which we stand. We rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope: and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us"* (Romans 5:1-5, WEB). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith, and He will lead you into the fullness of all He has for you.
