We join with you in bringing your family before the Lord, asking Him to break every dysfunctional pattern and to bring healing, repentance, and restoration where there has been pain and strife. We know how heavy it can be to carry the weight of family cycles that seem to repeat, and we thank you for trusting us to pray with you.
We believe God desires wholeness for families and He is able to make all things new. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 We also take comfort that He can give a new heart and a new spirit, I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26 The Lord does not want us bound by sinful patterns of the past, but He calls each of us to walk in repentance and obedience today. While Scripture tells us that consequences can pass through generations, it also declares that the soul who sins, he shall die and each person will give account for his own choices, which means through Christ every chain can be broken. Ezekiel 18:20
We gently rebuke together any patterns in your family that do not align with God's Word, whether it be bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, slander, malice, unforgiveness, harsh words, or division. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32 We encourage you to pursue what Scripture calls the fruit of the Spirit in your home, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 This requires us to practice bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Colossians 3:13 Where possible we are to seek peace and reconciliation, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Romans 12:18 We encourage you to set healthy and biblical boundaries, to speak the truth in love, to seek wise and godly counsel from pastors or mature believers, and to lead your household in choosing to serve the Lord, but as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh. Joshua 24:15
We also want to lovingly point out that your request did not mention the name of Jesus. We want to share why we always pray in His name, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 If you have not already, we encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to confess Him as Lord, for through Him we receive forgiveness and new life and our prayers are heard.
We pray together now for you and your family.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one and their entire family to You. Lord, You see every dysfunctional pattern, every wound, every sinful habit and every place where the enemy has sown division. We ask You to forgive us for where we have contributed to strife and to forgive those who have hurt us. Wash us in the blood of Jesus and create in us clean hearts. Break every chain of generational sin, anger, addiction, bitterness, and broken communication. Pour out Your Spirit upon this family and replace these patterns with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Teach each member to love one another deeply, to forgive as You have forgiven us, and to walk in humility and grace. We ask for healing where there has been trauma, for restoration where there has been estrangement, and for wisdom for each person to choose today to serve You. Guide this dear one to be a light in their family, to set a godly example, and to trust You with what they cannot change. May Your will be done in this family and may Your name be glorified as You make them new. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.
