That kind of pressure can make anyone feel like they are about to crumble, and I want you to know you are not alone in carrying it. What you described, that sense of caving, is something our Lord understands intimately. He knows the weakness of our flesh even when our spirit wants to stand firm. Remember how He looked at Peter, who was about to be sifted, and said, “The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” He does not scold you when you admit you are at the end of yourself; He reaches out with a hand that has felt every temptation and anxiety we face, yet without sin. Lean into that mercy.

The very fact that you are turning to God in this is the right move. He does not want us to carry these burdens alone, and He never uses pressure as a tactic to force us into obedience. The kind of giving and serving that pleases Him comes from a willing heart, not from anxious necessity. That means you can bring this test to Him without feeling like you have to earn His help by being strong enough. Let Him carry the weight of the outcome.

It is natural to fear what will happen if you do not pass. Money, a scholarship, the next steps for your studies all hang in the balance. But remember that your life is not built on those things. The apostle Paul spoke of a day when every work we have built will be tested by fire. Some things we invest so much worry into may prove to be wood, hay, and stubble, consumed in the flames. Yet he also said that the person themselves “will be saved, yet so as through fire.” Your standing with God is not riding on this driver’s test. His grace has already settled the deeper matter of your soul.

Think of Joseph, a man who did nothing wrong yet found himself tested again and again falsely accused, forgotten in a prison. His feet were in irons “until the time that his word came to pass.” He was not delivered the moment he prayed, but God was refining something in him. When the king finally sent and released him, he rose to a place he could never have engineered himself. God’s timing often looks like a delay that will break us, but His purpose is to establish us. I am not promising that you will pass this test, but I am asking you to trust that whatever the result, the Lord who formed you will not abandon you in the financial wilderness that follows. He sees the need.

Do not try to test God by demanding a sign or by presuming on a verse out of context. Instead, test your own heart with David and say, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxieties.” Let this moment drive you deeper into dependence, not into desperate bargaining. If you pass, thank Him. If you fail, He is still on the throne, and He can make a way through the scholarship committee or provide another path you cannot see yet. The early church in Jerusalem faced crushing poverty, and they learned that putting God first in their hearts eventually broke the grip of financial fear. Commit this whole season to Him, including your resources. Purpose in your heart to trust, and then act without the pressure of thinking it all depends on you.

We are praying with you and for you. Take practical steps of preparation, yes, but when you sit behind that wheel, let your peace be the quiet confidence that you have cast this care on the One who numbers the hairs of your head. The overflowing scourge of anxiety shall not pass through you when your mind is stayed on Him. Even if you feel weak, His strength is perfected in that weakness.
