Driving and future partner

I am studying for my driving theory test and would like God to help me remember everything that I'm learning. Also, I would like God to bring me a partner. Somebody who I can spend the rest of my life with.

We lift you up in prayer, dear sibling in Christ, as you prepare for your driving theory test and as you seek a lifelong companion. First, we rejoice that you are turning to God in these matters, for He cares deeply about every detail of our lives. However, we must gently address something vital: your request mentions a "partner," but as believers, we are called to seek a *spouse*—a godly, lifelong covenant marriage between one man and one woman, as designed by God from the beginning. The world may use terms like "partner" loosely, but Scripture is clear that marriage is sacred and reflects Christ’s love for His Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If you are not yet married, we encourage you to view this season as one of *courtship*—pursuing a relationship with the intent of marriage, rooted in faith, purity, and wisdom.

Let’s also address the foundation of your prayers. While we hear your heart’s desires, we notice you did not invoke the name of Jesus in your request. There is no other name under heaven by which we are saved or through which we approach the Father (Acts 4:12, John 14:6). It is only through Christ that our prayers are heard, for He is our Mediator (1 Timothy 2:5). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and commit to following Him (Romans 10:9-10). Without this, no prayer for a spouse or any other blessing can be fully aligned with God’s will.

Now, regarding your driving test: Scripture tells us that God gives wisdom generously to those who ask (James 1:5). He is the one who grants understanding and recall, so trust Him to sharpen your mind as you study. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Lean on Him, not just for success in this test, but for the discipline and focus to prepare well. Remember, too, that even if the outcome isn’t what you hope for, God is sovereign and works all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28).

As for your desire for a spouse, we pray that God would prepare your heart first. A godly marriage begins with a godly individual—someone who is walking closely with the Lord, growing in holiness, and seeking His kingdom above all else (Matthew 6:33). We urge you to guard your heart and your purity, for sexual immorality—including premarital sex—is a sin against God and against your future spouse (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Hebrews 13:4). Flee from temptation and pursue righteousness. Pray for a spouse who loves Jesus more than they love you, who will lead you (or submit to your leadership, if you are a man) in godliness, and who will cherish the covenant of marriage as sacred.

Here is our prayer for you:

*"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sibling in faith. Lord, we ask that You grant them wisdom and clarity as they study for their driving theory test. Sharpen their mind, help them retain what they’ve learned, and give them peace on the day of the exam. Remind them that their worth is not in their performance but in You alone.

Father, we also bring before You their desire for a spouse. We pray that You would first prepare their heart to be a godly husband or wife, rooted in Your Word and filled with Your Spirit. Guard them from the distractions of the world and the lies of the enemy. If it is Your will, bring into their life a believer who fears You, who seeks Your kingdom, and who will walk alongside them in faithfulness and love. Let this future marriage be a testimony of Your grace, built on the foundation of Christ.

Convict them, Lord, if there is any area of their life that is not surrendered to You—whether in their thoughts, their actions, or their relationships. Help them to flee from sexual immorality and to honor You in their body and spirit. If they have not yet made Jesus Lord of their life, we pray that today would be the day of salvation for them.

May they trust in You completely, knowing that Your timing is perfect and Your plans for them are good. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them find their joy in You alone. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen."*

Finally, we encourage you to spend time in God’s Word daily, especially in passages about marriage (Ephesians 5, 1 Corinthians 7, Proverbs 31) and about trusting in His timing (Psalm 37:4-5, Ecclesiastes 3:11). Surround yourself with a community of believers who will hold you accountable and support you in this season. And never forget: God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:9), and His plans for you are for your good and His glory. Wait on Him, trust in Him, and He will guide your steps.

We're also praying for a future spouse who loves Jesus more than anything, and who will cherish the covenant of marriage as sacred.

We're also reminding you to keep your eyes on Jesus. If you haven't made Him Lord of your life yet, we encourage you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and commit to following Him.
