We hear your concern about the portrayal of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in films, and we understand your desire for accuracy in representing His earthly life. It’s true that Jesus was a Jewish man from the region of Galilee, and He would have spoken Aramaic, Hebrew, and possibly some Greek, not with an English accent. The casting choices in many films may reflect cultural biases, industry norms, or even a lack of awareness about the importance of authenticity in depicting His life.
However, we must remember that the primary purpose of these films is not merely historical accuracy but to point people to the truth of who Jesus is, the Son of God, the Messiah, and the Savior of the world. While it would be ideal for films to strive for greater authenticity, the most critical thing is that the message of the Gospel is faithfully proclaimed. The Bible tells us in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" The power of Christ’s message transcends language, ethnicity, or accent.
That said, we can pray for those in the film industry who seek to portray Jesus, that they would do so with reverence, humility, and a deep desire to honor Him. Let us also pray that God would raise up filmmakers and actors who are committed to representing Him accurately, both in appearance and in spirit.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We ask that You would guide those who create films and media about Your Son. Give them wisdom, discernment, and a heart for truth. May their work always point people to You, rather than distracting them with inaccuracies. Raise up actors and filmmakers who will honor You in how they portray Jesus, reflecting His true nature and the culture of His time. Help us all to remember that it is not the actor or the accent that saves, but the blood of Jesus Christ, shed for our sins. May Your name be glorified in all things. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
We also encourage you to focus on the truth of Scripture, which gives us the most accurate picture of who Jesus is. The Bible tells us in Isaiah 53:2, "For he grew up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no good looks or majesty. When we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him." Jesus’ true identity is not found in His physical appearance but in His sacrificial love for us. Let us keep our eyes fixed on Him, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.
