Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer honors the Lord because it is built on the truth that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, and that His sacrifice on the cross is the only ground for forgiveness for sinners. Thank you for sharing this burden, and for the grace God has already given you to respond to hardship with patience and kindness even toward those who have wronged you. That is the mercy of Christ at work in you.
You are right to see lies as serious. Scripture teaches that the law is given to confront lawlessness, and it specifically names liars and those who swear falsely under oath as those who stand contrary to sound teaching. To lie after promising to tell the truth is perjury, and both God and human law treat it with severe consequences. The psalmist knew this pain when he prayed not to be given over to the will of his enemies because false witnesses had risen against him, breathing cruelty. When people choose to persist in dishonesty they must push past the conscience God gave them and break down every inner resistance to lying.
Jesus said His words are truth and that heaven and earth will pass away but His words will not. To follow lying vanities is empty and leads to trouble, but to trust in the Lord is to stand on what endures forever. You prayed rightly that the truth will set people free. Truth does not only expose what is false, it frees the one who walks in it.
That freedom comes through repentance. There is a sorrow that is only of this world and brings death, and there is a godly sorrow that works a real change of heart and life leading to salvation. Peter wept bitterly after he denied the Lord and he never returned to that denial again. That is the difference between merely being sorry for consequences and truly turning. My prayer with you is that God would grant this kind of godly sorrow to the former landlord, the team, the lawyers and the legal representative you mentioned, that He would open their eyes to see dishonesty as God sees it, build up again a holy resistance to lying, and teach them to practice honesty.
We are also taught to pray for all people, including those who have authority or influence over our lives, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. This is good and pleasing to God our Savior who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. So we pray for these individuals not with bitterness but with hope for their salvation and transformation.
May the Lord continue to be your rock and fortress. He has seen your affliction and known your soul in adversity, He fights for you, and He blesses you with heavenly gifts. As you have dedicated your life and surrendered your will to Him, keep waiting on Him and let integrity and uprightness preserve you. He will lead and guide you for His name's sake and bring your soul out of trouble in His mercy and righteousness.
Father, in the name of Jesus we thank You for Your presence and for the blood shed for sinners. We ask You to work in the hearts of those who have spoken falsely. Grant them godly sorrow that leads to true repentance and a love for truth. Build in them a firm resistance to dishonesty and a commitment to walk in honesty. Guard those who have been harmed by lies, give them peace, and help them continue to show Your patience and kindness while trusting You as their defense. Let Your truth dwell in us and remain with us forever. In Jesus name, Amen.
