Dishonesty

Kensem

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, we come before you.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
We thank you for your presence in our lives.
Thank you for fighting for us and blessing us with heavenly gifts.
Thank you for the sacrifice of the Cross when Jesus' blood was shed for us sinners.
Lord, lies are serious crimes,
Lord we also pray for the former landlord's team, lawyers and legal representative.
Although we have faced hardships, you have given us the grace to show these people the same patience and kindness that was shown to us.
In order to lie and commit several serious crimes, they had to break down all the resistance to dishonesty.
Lord, we ask that you build up their resistance to dishonesty and help them to practice honesty.
Lord, we believe that truth will set us free, and we ask that you open their eyes to this truth so that they will not suffer the consequences of lying.
We dedicate our lives to you and surrender our will to you.
In Jesus name,
Amen

We join you in this prayer before the Father in the name of Jesus, and we thank you for coming boldly before His throne and acknowledging that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life as He said in John 14:6, and for remembering the sacrifice of the cross where His blood was shed for us sinners.

We agree with you that lies are serious before the Lord. Scripture is very clear that dishonesty is not a small matter. Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight in Proverbs 12:22, and we are commanded therefore putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor in Ephesians 4:25. We are also warned not to lie to one another in Colossians 3:9 and that among the things Yahweh hates are a lying tongue and a false witness who utters lies in Proverbs 6:16-19. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor in Exodus 20:16 remains His holy standard.

We are moved by the grace you have shown in praying for your former landlord's team, lawyers and legal representatives even as you have faced hardships through their dishonesty. This reflects the heart of Christ who calls us to love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you in Matthew 5:44. To pray for those who have wronged you and to ask God to build up their resistance to dishonesty rather than seeking revenge is a beautiful obedience to God who says Vengeance is mine, I will repay in Romans 12:19. We commend you for choosing patience and kindness while still standing for truth.

We also hold fast to your confession that the truth will set us free, for Jesus said You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free in John 8:32. When people must break down all resistance to dishonesty in order to lie and commit further wrongs, their hearts become hardened and they walk in darkness. Only the light of Christ can open their eyes and restore a love for honesty and righteousness.

We pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus we come before You with thanksgiving for Your presence in our lives and for fighting for us and blessing us with heavenly gifts. Thank You for the blood of Jesus shed on the cross for sinners like us. Lord, You see every lie and every act of dishonesty, and You are a God of truth in whom there is no falsehood. We ask You to convict the hearts of this former landlord's team, their lawyers and legal representatives, and open their eyes to the freedom that is found only in truth. Build up in them a holy resistance to dishonesty and help them to practice honesty, to turn from falsehood and to speak what is true. Let them understand the serious consequences of lying and grant them repentance leading to salvation. We pray that truth would prevail in every legal matter and that justice would be done according to Your righteous will. Protect and strengthen those who have been wronged, guard their hearts from bitterness, and help them to continue to show Your patience and kindness while not compromising on truth. We dedicate our lives to You anew and surrender our will to Yours. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, and let Your name be glorified through truth and integrity. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We were moved reading your prayer. You have walked through hardships with your former landlord's team and their lawyers, and yet you are asking God to make them more honest, not to punish them. That is a gracious and Christlike posture and it says a lot about the work God is doing in you.

Being on the receiving end of dishonesty, especially when it involves legal matters, can leave an injustice gap between how you wish things had been handled and how they actually were. It makes sense that you would feel both hurt and weary. Choosing to release the desire for revenge is one thing, and finding peace in your heart over time is another. Both matter, and the second often takes longer and comes in waves. Giving yourself grace in that process is part of healing.

One steady next step we have found helpful is to keep truth and grace together. Continue documenting facts calmly and seeking wise, godly counsel for any practical decisions, while you keep entrusting the outcome to the Lord as you are already doing. If the burden feels heavy, sharing it regularly with a trusted pastor or counselor can keep you from carrying it alone.

Father, thank You for Your presence with our friends and for the grace You have already shown them. We ask You to guard their hearts in truth, to bring clarity where there has been confusion, and to work honesty and conviction in all involved. Give them wisdom for each decision and peace as they surrender their lives to You. In Jesus name, amen.

Your prayer has been brought before the Lord with thanksgiving, and we have joined our hearts with yours at the throne of grace.

We praise God with you that Jesus is indeed the way, the truth, and the life, and that through the sacrifice of the Cross and the shedding of His precious blood, sinners such as we are may find forgiveness. There is no theme more practical nor more glorious than the riches of His grace displayed in forgiving all our trespasses. He is greater at forgiving than we ever dreamed, and when He takes to pardoning through the bleeding Sacrifice, then is He glorious indeed, holding forth the silver scepter of His royalty to all who come.

We commend the spirit of your petition. You have not asked for vengeance, but for grace to overcome evil with good, and to show to those who have dealt dishonestly with you the same patience and kindness which has been shown to you. This is the art which saints must learn, to overcome evil with good, and to look to the Lord Jesus Christ for all things. The Lord who taught us to forgive as we have been forgiven will surely honour such a prayer.

We have prayed with you concerning the former landlord's team, the lawyers and legal representative. Lies are indeed a serious offense before a God of truth, and we have asked the Father to work in their hearts by His Holy Spirit, to build up in them a holy resistance to dishonesty and a love for honesty, to open their eyes to the truth which alone can set men free, and to deliver them from the bitter consequences of falsehood. We have asked that they may come to know honest dealing with God, confessing sin and finding mercy, for no longer is the burden of sin to lie upon the conscience when pardon is received through Christ.

We have also prayed for you, that the Lord will continue to fight for you and to bless you with heavenly gifts, that you may be kept in truth and in cheerful confidence, knowing your own sins forgiven. For when the load is lifted and we hear the Saviour say, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, we have a right to be of good cheer indeed.

We rejoice to hear you dedicate your lives anew and surrender your will to Him. May the Holy Spirit sweetly open up to you more and more the glories of our sin forgiving God, and keep you walking in the truth, in Jesus name, Amen.
