Dishonesty

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, we come before you.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
We thank you for your presence in our lives.
Thank you for fighting for us and blessing us with heavenly gifts.
Thank you for the sacrifice of the Cross when Jesus' blood was shed for us sinners.
Lord, lies are serious crimes,
Lord we also pray for the landlord's team, lawyers and legal representative.
Although we have faced hardships, you have given us the grace to show these people the same patience and kindness that was shown to us.
In order to lie and commit several serious crimes, they had to break down all the resistance to dishonesty.
Lord, we ask that you build up their resistance to dishonesty and help them to practice honesty.
Lord, we believe that truth will set us free, and we ask that you open their eyes to this truth so that they will not suffer the consequences of lying.
We dedicate our lives to you and surrender our will to you.
In Jesus name,
Amen

We join you in lifting this burden before our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus, and we thank you for coming boldly before His throne through Christ alone, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and it is only through His blood shed on the Cross that we sinners have forgiveness and access to God.

We hear your heart for truth and your desire to see even those who have opposed you come to honesty, and that reflects the grace of Christ in you. You have rightly discerned that lies are serious before God. Scripture is clear that dishonesty is not a small matter. Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight. Proverbs 12:22 and You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. Exodus 20:16 We are commanded Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings. Colossians 3:9 and Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor. For we are members of one another. Ephesians 4:25

We commend you for choosing to show patience and kindness even while facing hardships with this landlord's team, lawyers and legal representatives. That is the fruit of the Spirit and the character of Christ who calls us to love our enemies and pray for those who mistreat us. Yet showing kindness does not mean we excuse dishonesty or abandon the pursuit of justice. God is both merciful and just, and He sees all that is hidden. We can trust Him to bring truth to light while we leave vengeance to Him, for it is written Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19

You prayed that their resistance to dishonesty would be built up and that they would practice honesty, and we agree with you. We pray that conviction would work deeply in their hearts, that they would understand that to sustain lies they must harden their conscience, and that God would soften and open their eyes before they suffer the consequences of lying. For the Scriptures warn that all liars will have their part in the second death. Revelation 21:8 but also promise You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. John 8:32

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus we come before You with thanksgiving for Your presence, for fighting for us and blessing us with heavenly gifts, and for the sacrifice of the Cross where the blood of Jesus was shed for us. Lord, You are the God of truth and there is no unrighteousness in You. We ask You to shine Your light upon this legal situation and upon every lie that has been spoken. Expose what is false and establish what is true, for You desire truth in the inward parts. Psalm 51:6

Father, we lift up the landlord's team, the lawyers and the legal representatives to You. Have mercy upon them and grant them repentance. Build up in them a holy resistance to dishonesty and a love for honesty. Remove the spirit of deception and give them courage to speak the truth even when it is costly. Open their eyes to see that truth will set them free and that lying only brings bondage and judgment. Let them know that You see and weigh every word.

Lord, we ask for Your protection and provision for those who have been wronged by these serious crimes of dishonesty. Give them continued grace to respond with patience and kindness, but also with wisdom and boldness to stand for righteousness. Let Your justice prevail in this matter according to Your perfect will, and let Your name be glorified through the outcome. We surrender our lives and our will to You, trusting that You work all things together for good for those who love You. Romans 8:28

We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We were so encouraged reading your prayer. Walking through dishonesty, especially when it involves housing and legal representatives, is exhausting and it can feel like the ground keeps shifting under you. The way you are choosing to pray for those who have not been truthful with you, asking God to build their resistance to dishonesty and to open their eyes to truth, shows real grace in a hard place.

We hear both your desire for truth to be honored and your willingness to extend patience and kindness even after hardship. Those two things can live together. Wanting what is right and honest does not mean you have to hold onto resentment, and releasing resentment does not mean pretending the lies did not matter.

If it helps in the weeks ahead, it may be steadying to keep a simple, factual record of communications and to stay close to wise, trustworthy counsel for the legal side, so you are not carrying that burden alone. And give your own heart some care too, bringing the disappointment and weariness to the Lord often and talking it through with a trusted pastor or friend.

Father, thank you for the heart behind this prayer. We ask you to guard our friend with peace, guide every step with the landlord and legal matters, and work in all involved toward honesty and truth. Lead them in your will and set them free in you. In Jesus' name, Amen.

We have heard your prayer and we join you in coming before our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus, who is the way, the truth and the life, and through whose blood shed upon the cross sinners such as we are have hope.

We thank God with you for His presence, for His heavenly gifts, and for grace that has enabled you to show patience and kindness even in hardship, even toward those who have opposed you. This is the overcoming of evil with good which our Lord teaches, and it is a testimony that the truth is at work in your own heart.

You have prayed rightly, for lies are indeed serious before the God whose Word is truth. He is a God that cannot lie, and He has said, Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. We therefore make your petition our own, that the Lord would open the eyes of the landlord's team, the lawyers and legal representatives, and build up in them a resistance to dishonesty and a love for honesty. May He grant them to see that a false tongue brings its own bitter consequences, and that only in truth is there liberty and peace.

Buy the truth, as the Scripture says, and sell it not. We pray that for you and for them there may be truth in doctrine, truth in the heart, and truth in the life, for where truth dwells, Christ dwells, who is Himself the Truth. May the Lord cause all who handle this matter to deal honestly, to speak plainly, and to act uprightly, remembering that every deed is before His eye.

We pray also for you, that your faith may be strengthened in this storm, that fear of man may be taken away, and that you may be kept in quiet submission to the will of God, trusting Him to fight for you and to bring forth justice in His time. Continue to surrender your will to Him and to dedicate your lives anew to His service, for He hears the cry of those who call upon Him through the atoning blood.

May the Spirit of God help you to walk in honesty and to rest upon Christ, who died for sinners, and may the Lord in mercy grant that truth may prevail in this whole matter, to His glory.

We commend you and all concerned to Him who is faithful and true, praying in the name of Jesus. Amen.
