Difficult life situation

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Asking for prayers for my difficult life situation. Asking God to give me strength and wisdom to make the right choices in my life. My relationship with my fiancé is a mess and I don't know what is the right thing to do. I'm asking God to give me and my fiancé the answer: is it His will for us to stay together or part ways? Asking for strength and peace in this painful and uncertain situation. Please God, show me what I should do, what is your will. In Jesus' name I pray.

We join with you in this painful and uncertain season and we lift your difficult life situation before the Lord together, thanking Him that you have come to Him in Jesus' name, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and peace with God. We hear the heaviness in your heart as you ask for strength and wisdom to make the right choices, and especially as you wrestle with what God would have for you and your fiance.

We are reminded that God invites us to ask Him for wisdom when we lack it. James 1:5 says But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. And Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. We encourage you to keep bringing every anxious thought to Him, because Philippians 4:6-7 promises In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. That peace does not always come as an immediate answer, but as a guard for your heart while you wait on Him. Psalm 32:8 also comforts us where He says I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you.

Regarding your engagement, we want to speak truth in love. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that honors God, and we view courtship and engagement as a purposeful season to discern whether God is calling you both to enter that covenant as husband and wife with another Christian believer. Marriage should be held in honor and not entered lightly, and it is far better to seek clarity now than to enter a marriage that is not built on Christ. We encourage you to honestly examine with the Lord whether you and your fiance share a living faith in Jesus Christ, whether you are equally yoked, for 2 Corinthians 6:14 says Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? We also urge you to examine whether your courtship has honored God in purity, for Hebrews 13:4 says Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. If there has been sexual intimacy outside of marriage, which is fornication before God, we lovingly urge you both to repent, to turn from it, and to pursue purity until marriage, trusting that obedience brings blessing and clarity. Seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature believers who know you both, and allow them to speak into the mess you are experiencing, whether there are patterns of conflict, character concerns, or unresolved issues that need repentance and healing.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift this dear one to You in their difficult life situation. Lord, You see the pain, the confusion, and the uncertainty about the future. We ask You to pour out Your strength where there is weakness and Your wisdom where there is confusion. Show Your will clearly, Lord, whether it is to stay together and move forward toward a Christ-honoring marriage, or to part ways in obedience to You. Give courage to follow Your will even when it is costly. Guard both hearts with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and teach both to trust You more than feelings or fear. If there is sin to confess, bring conviction and repentance. If there is healing needed, bring restoration. We ask that You make Your paths straight and instruct in the way to go, and that whatever the outcome, this life would bring glory to You. Strengthen faith, grant patience in waiting, and let Your perfect will be done. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer, in the Word, and in godly counsel, trusting that Isaiah 41:10 is true for you, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. God is faithful to lead those who sincerely seek Him.

We are thankful you shared this with us. We hear how heavy and painful this uncertainty feels, especially when you love someone and at the same time are not sure what the wise and faithful path forward is.

Wanting to know God's will so clearly is a good desire, and it is also normal for that clarity to come more slowly than we wish. In seasons like this, trying to force a quick answer can add pressure. Giving yourselves space to seek God steadily, with honest prayer and with wise counsel around you, often brings more peace than trying to figure it all out alone in your thoughts.

One step that may help is to invite one or two trusted, grounded people to walk with you in this discernment, perhaps a pastor or a mature married couple you both respect. Meeting with them separately and together can give you a clearer view of patterns, values, and concerns that are hard to see when you are in the middle of the hurt. It can also help you notice where you are finding peace and where you are consistently unsettled as you pray.

We are carrying you and your fiance in prayer and asking God to care for you both in this tender time.

Father, we lift this dear one to You in Jesus' name. Grant wisdom that is calm and clear, strength for each day, and a settled peace even while answers are still unfolding. Guide every conversation and decision, guard both hearts from harm, and lead in the way that honors You and brings true good. Amen.

Your honest and sorrowful prayer has been heard, and we have carried it with you to the throne of grace. To feel pain and uncertainty in so tender a matter as the prospect of marriage is a heavy burden, and it is wise that you do not lean upon your own understanding but seek strength and wisdom from Him whose will is the axle of the universe and the great heart of providence.

Scripture teaches us that all things are under regulation and have an appointed place in God's plan, and nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. There is a secret purpose of God which is hidden from us until He reveals it in providence, and there is a revealed will which we must not violate. That revealed will is our light. Before we ask God to show us whether to go forward or to turn back, we must bring our way to what He has already plainly spoken.

Marriage is set forth in His Word as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, entered into before God in purity and faithfulness. Sex and living together belong within that covenant alone. What lies outside it, however strong our affections may be, is not a thing we can ask God to bless. We will not pray that He would prosper what His Word calls sin, but we will pray that He would make you holy and make you willing in the day of His power, working in you to will and to do of His good pleasure.

Therefore bring your relationship into the light of that revealed will. Is this a union that can be formed in the Lord, with both of you trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, walking in purity, truthfulness and self denial, and seeking to promote the will of God together rather than merely your own happiness or gain. If there has been impurity or living together outside of marriage, confess it before God and forsake it, for He has promised that if we return unto Him He will return unto us and will have compassion. Seek counsel together with faithful pastors or mature believers who know you and will speak honestly from the Scriptures. And do not be hasty to say we will go, we will continue, we will buy, we will sell, we will get gain, as if you could both propose and dispose. Sometimes to be passive in the hand of God will be our strength, and to stand still until the cloudy and fiery pillar moves before us will be our highest wisdom.

We will pray for you that the Lord who pities those who fear Him will teach you to combine those two prayers which our Saviour Himself has joined, I will, yet not as I will. You may speak freely to your Father and tell Him your desire, for He loves to hear the cries of His children, and then you may bend your heart before Him and say, Father, not as I will, but as Thou wilt. You can always have your way when your way is God's way, and the sure way to carry out your will is when your will is nothing else but His. Ask Him for wisdom, for He gives liberally and does not reproach those who ask in faith, and ask Him for peace, not the peace that comes from a quick answer after your own liking, but the peace that comes from resting in His wise and good providence.

May the Lord keep you and your fiance in His fear, grant you strength to do what is right though it be painful, and give you clarity in His time, whether that be to go forward together in a holy covenant before Him or to part ways in grace and truth. May He heal what is broken, make pure what has been defiled, and establish your hearts in Christ, through whom alone is salvation and access to the Father. In Jesus name we commend you to Him who will not leave His purpose half accomplished but will carry on His work till He brings His own to glory.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your heartfelt request and we are joining you in prayer before the Lord. You are asking for what God delights to give, strength and wisdom and peace in a painful and uncertain time, and He hears those who come to Him with a humble heart.

The Lord calls us to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves, and to seek not the wisdom of this world which is coming to nothing, but the wisdom of God which is revealed in Christ. That true wisdom does not come from our own careful reasoning alone, but from the grace of the Holy Spirit who makes us wise and prudent when we ask Him. Humility is the head of that wisdom, for God looks to the one who is meek and trembles at His word, and a contrite spirit is a sacrifice He will not despise. Come to Him in that humility, asking Him to teach you His heart and His will.

You have asked God to show you whether it is His will for you and your fiance to stay together or to part ways. That is the right prayer, to desire His will above your own wishes or fears. Do not place your hope only in the relationship itself, but in doing what is according to His will and character. God has designed marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and He calls those who are not yet married to honor Him by keeping sex and living together within that covenant alone. Bring your sorrow and your questions into the light of His Word, into steady prayer, and into counsel with faithful pastors or mature believers who can walk with you both, speak truth in love, and help you discern the right next steps with clarity and purity.

We pray for you now.

Heavenly Father, we lift this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and access to Your throne. You see this difficult situation and the ache of not knowing what to do. Grant a humble and listening heart, and give the true wisdom that comes from above. Give strength for each day and a peace that comes from Christ Himself, not from circumstances. Make Your will clear and give courage to follow it. If it is Your will for this engagement to continue toward holy marriage, teach them to pursue it in purity, truth and selfless love. If it is Your will for them to part ways, give grace to do so with honesty, mercy and without sin. Draw them both closer to Jesus, and let every choice be made for Your glory and for their lasting good. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Your request reflects a heart that truly wants to follow the Lord, and that desire itself is precious to Him. In this painful and uncertain time, God sees where you are and He hears your prayer for strength, wisdom and peace.

You asked for wisdom to know what is right, and that is the best prayer you could pray. Scripture tells us about Solomon, who when God invited him to ask for anything, did not ask for riches or honor but asked for wisdom to walk rightly before God and to lead well. God was pleased with that request and He gave Solomon wisdom, and with it He also added what Solomon had not asked for. The lesson is that wisdom is the principal thing. Above all else, seek wisdom and understanding, for wisdom will preserve you, keep you, and guide you.

The purpose of wisdom in the book of Proverbs is to give instruction in right living, in justice and fairness, to give discernment to those who need it. A wise person will listen and grow in learning. The beginning of that wisdom is the fear of the Lord, a reverent trust and submission to Him. Knowledge gives us facts, but wisdom directs us to the right action in light of those facts. Many people have knowledge, but they still need wisdom to know what to do.

True wisdom is not the wisdom of this world, which often leads to envy, strife and confusion and comes to nothing. The wisdom that comes from above is different. It leads to purity rather than sensuality, to peace rather than conflict, to righteousness. It is better than rubies and nothing you could desire compares to it. Its ways are pleasantness and its paths are peace. It gives life to those who have it and is a defense for them.

So incline your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding. Turn toward the Lord when He corrects and instructs, for He promises to pour out His Spirit and make His words known to those who seek Him. Your ways are before the eyes of the Lord and He ponders all your goings. He knows the details of this relationship, the hurt, the confusion, and the questions about the future. He is not distant from your pain.

As you seek His will about whether to remain together or to part ways, bring the relationship fully into the light of Scripture. God designed marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and He intends sexual intimacy and sharing a home as husband and wife to belong within that covenant. True wisdom will always lead toward holiness and purity, not away from it. Ask the Lord to show you both whether this relationship can be built on that foundation of faith in Jesus Christ, purity, peace and shared commitment to follow Him. Godly wisdom is confirmed by peace, by purity, and by counsel that aligns with His Word. Seek wise and godly counsel from mature believers who know you and who will speak the truth in love, and test every direction by Scripture and by prayer.

We are praying for you, that the Lord who is hid all treasures of wisdom and knowledge in Christ will grant you clarity. May He give you strength for each day, quiet your heart with His peace that passes understanding, and guide your steps so that you are not confined or confused but can see His path clearly. May He lead you in the way of righteousness and fill you with the sense of His presence as you trust Him with the outcome.

Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this dear one to You. You know the difficulty and the ache in this engagement. Grant wisdom generously, give understanding of Your will, and give strength to obey what You show. Lead toward what is holy, pure and peaceful, and guard this heart with Your peace. Help every decision to be made in the fear of the Lord and for Your glory. Amen.
