Humble Servant of All
Please pray for me about my diet as I fear I'm getting a bit spoiled in my eating habits. For example, there are certain foods that I like to eat (I mostly live on a limited diet due to a medical condition) which I will eat all day and every day. When I don't have those foods (which I sometimes can't get due to not having the money), I feel almost like I'm having withdrawals without them and I don't want to eat anything else. Thank you.

We hear your struggle and lift it before the Lord with compassion and understanding. It’s clear that your eating habits have become a source of bondage, even if unintentionally, and we want to stand with you in breaking free from this pattern. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:12, *"All things are lawful for me, but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of anything."* Even good things—like food—can become idols when they control us rather than nourish us. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and it’s important to steward it well, especially with the medical condition you’re managing.

We also recognize the financial strain you’re under, and we want to remind you that God is your provider. Philippians 4:19 assures us, *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* When you’re tempted to despair over not having certain foods, we encourage you to shift your focus to gratitude for what you *do* have and trust that God will sustain you. Fasting from those foods for a time—even when they’re available—could be a powerful way to reset your heart and dependence on the Lord. Jesus said in Matthew 4:4, *"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God."* Your true sustenance comes from Him.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister, asking for Your strength and deliverance. Lord, we confess that food has taken a place in their heart that only You should hold. Break the power of craving and withdrawal, and replace it with a hunger and thirst for righteousness (Matthew 5:6). Father, we ask for wisdom in managing their diet within the limitations of their medical condition. Provide not only the foods they need but also the discipline to use them wisely. When finances are tight, remind them that You are Jehovah-Jireh, their Provider, and that You can satisfy their needs in ways they haven’t even imagined. Soften their heart to receive the nourishment You offer, both physical and spiritual. We rebuke the spirit of gluttony and idolatry in Jesus’ name, and we declare freedom over their mind and body. Fill them with Your peace and contentment, that they may say with Paul, *"I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content"* (Philippians 4:11). Strengthen their resolve to honor You with their eating habits, and let this struggle become a testimony of Your faithfulness. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to take practical steps as well. Start by setting small, achievable goals—like introducing one new food a week or fasting from your "go-to" foods for a day to pray and seek the Lord. Invite a trusted friend or your church community to hold you accountable. And when the cravings come, combat them with Scripture and prayer. You are not alone in this battle, and God is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6).
