We join with you in claiming the truth of God's word and we hear your desire to walk in the blessing of Deuteronomy 28:13 where it says Yahweh will make you the head, and not the tail. You will be above only, and you will not be beneath, if you listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God which I command you today, to observe and to do them.
We love your faith to declare God's promises over yourself, your family, and even your pets and your health down to your toes, and we thank God with you that you are breathing, living, and that communication is well. We also rejoice that you have invoked the blood of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is by His blood that we are redeemed and blessed.
We want to gently encourage you in how we apply this precious verse. This promise in Deuteronomy was given to Israel as part of the blessings for obedience, as Deuteronomy 28:1 says If you will listen diligently to Yahweh your God's voice, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you today, Yahweh your God will set you on high above all the nations of the earth. And Deuteronomy 28:2 says All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you, if you listen to Yahweh your God's voice. The blessing of being the head and not the tail is not an incantation we loosen or force into existence by repeating words 100 fold, but a gracious result of walking humbly in obedience and faith in Christ, trusting God's sovereign will. We are called to pray according to His will, for 1 John 5:14 says This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And James 4:15 reminds us For you ought to say, If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.
We do believe our words matter, for Proverbs 18:21 says Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit, so speaking scripture in faith is good when it is spoken with submission to God's purposes and not as a formula to control Him. God is not manipulated by urgent or repeated declarations, He is our loving Father who desires our trust. Matthew 6:33 says But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. When we seek Him first, He lifts us up in His timing and way to be a light and a leader for His glory, which is the true meaning of being the head and not the tail, to lead in godliness, integrity, and service, not merely for personal elevation.
We also thank God for your love for your family and your pets, for Proverbs 12:10 says A righteous man respects the life of his animal, and we know He cares for all His creation.
We pray together now.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and through His shed blood. We thank You for this one who loves Your word and desires Your blessing. We ask that You help us all to walk in obedience to Your commandments, not by our own strength but by the grace of Your Holy Spirit through faith in Christ. We ask that You make us the head and not the tail in the way You intend, that we would lead our families in righteousness, in love, in diligence, and in testimony to others. We place ourselves, our families, and even our pets into Your caring hands, asking for health, for breath, for life, for sound communication, and for wholeness from head to toe. Let Your will be done in our bodies and in our homes. We ask that You guard our hearts from treating Your word as a charm, and instead teach us to pray with faith, humility, and surrender, trusting that Romans 8:28 says We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Fill us with Your peace that Philippians 4:6-7 speaks of, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We declare our trust in You alone, not in formulas, and we thank You that we are blessed in Christ forevermore. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
