Your earnest and tearful request has been brought before us and we have carried it to the throne of grace on your behalf. To watch a beloved creature suffer and refuse food, while every remedy has been tried, is a sharp trial, and we hear the fear and love in every line you have written.
The Scripture says, What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. There is no shame in being afraid, but there is a refuge for fear. When the heart is pressed down with helplessness, faith looks to the Lord who made all things and who sustains them. He who notices the sparrow's fall is not unmoved by your distress, and though this world is not our nest, and He often plants thorns in it to teach us to look higher, He is still a God of tender mercy who hears the cries of His people.
We must not despair under trouble, nor lie down under the burden, but take up what He appoints and carry it in prayer to Him who is able to help. You and those who care for your cat have done what love and skill can do, and now you do well to cast your care upon Him who is the God of peace, who can keep heart and mind in perfect peace even in the storm, and who can speak stillness to every fear.
We have prayed, and we continue to pray, that the Lord in His kindness would remove what hinders your cat from eating, that He would restore appetite and strength, and that even this night, while you sleep, He would grant relief and nourishment if it be His gracious will. We ask that He would guide the hands of those who give care, that He would guard your own heart from being overwhelmed, and that He would give you that peace which passes all understanding as you trust Him.
May you know that to trust the Son of God who poured out His life for sinners is to be kept even when heart and flesh fail. Go again and again to Him in prayer, lay hold upon that arm of strength revealed in Jesus Christ, and find there that He hears, He cares, and He does all things well according to His wise and loving purpose.
We join our Amen to yours, in the name of Jesus Christ our only hope and Saviour, praying that the Lord will hear your cries, show mercy to your dear cat, and keep you in His perfect peace.
