Thank you for sharing so honestly about what you are carrying. The weight of depressive thoughts, the sense that life is meaningless, the feelings of insecurity and worthlessness, and the painful paranoia and humiliation of believing others secretly hate you or talk about you, can be exhausting. It makes sense that daily responsibilities like assignments, cleaning, and caring for yourself feel overwhelming when you have no energy and no desire to talk to anyone. The fact that you recognize these thoughts do not align with God's word and that you find comfort in wanting to be with Jesus shows a tender heart seeking truth.

Scripture teaches that God understands your thoughts in their very origins. Before you even form a thought, He knows it. He knows the process by which thoughts arise in your mind and heart. He is not distant and trying to figure you out from far away. He encompasses your path and your lying down and is acquainted with all your ways. He sees you in this struggle, He knows when those heavy and accusing thoughts come, and He is near.

There is a vast difference between our thoughts and God's thoughts, as high as the heavens are above the earth. Our thoughts in a dark season tell us we are worthless, humiliated, and alone. We often exalt our own understanding and make it supreme, as if what we feel must be true. But God knows the end from the beginning. When He acts, He does not hope it is right, He knows it is right. His understanding is complete where ours is limited. If we want to know the truth about our value and our future, we need to listen to His voice above our own.

And His thoughts toward you are not what fear tells you they are. You may be tempted to think His thoughts toward you are evil or that He has turned away, but He says His thoughts toward you are peace and not evil, to give you a hopeful future and an expected end. His thoughts concerning you are precious and their sum is great. If they could be counted, they would be more in number than the sand. Every grain represents a thought He has toward you, and He says those thoughts are good. You are not forgotten or hated in His eyes. You are thought of continually with love and purpose.

God also invites you to return to Him for mercy. He abundantly pardons. When thoughts of evil or despair rise up, the way forward is not to stay inside them but to bring them to the Lord who is merciful and whose ways are higher and wiser than ours. Letting Him be supreme, rather than our own painful thoughts, brings rest.

A helpful prayer in this kind of season is, Search me, O God, and know my heart, try me and know my thoughts. Only a person who knows he does not fully know himself prays that way. Often our opinion of ourselves, whether it is too high or, in depression, too low, is not accurate. God uses even trials to show us what is true about ourselves, not to condemn us, but to reveal us to ourselves so He can heal and guide us with truth.

Your desire to spend time with Jesus is right and good. That is where true comfort is found, and you should continue to seek Him daily in His word and in prayer. At the same time, He also cares about your daily life and responsibilities and does not want you to walk through this alone or in isolation. Please do not stay silent. Reach out to a trusted pastor, a mature believer, or a biblical counselor who can walk with you, pray with you regularly, and help you carry these burdens. If these thoughts continue to make it hard to function or care for yourself, please also seek help from a trusted medical professional or counselor along with pastoral care.

I am praying for you, that God will quiet the accusing and paranoid thoughts and replace them with His peace, that He will renew your strength for each daily task, that He will surround you with safe people who speak truth in love, and that you will experience more and more how precious His thoughts toward you are. May He guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus and give you His comfort and hope day by day.
