Disciple of Prayer
**Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,** I hope you are all doing well when you read this message. First of all, thank you for taking the time to read it. I am writing because I truly need your prayers. It has taken me a long time to find the courage to open my heart, but I feel that I can no longer carry this burden alone. I have struggled with depression for most of my life, but over the past year it has become worse than ever. I believe in God, but I feel that my trust in Him has grown weak. I want to draw closer to Him, open my heart, pray more deeply, and serve Him more faithfully, yet many times I simply don't know how. I listen to sermons, devotionals, and testimonies that strengthen my faith for a moment, but when it comes to my own life, I find it difficult to believe that God can also perform a miracle in me. Last September, I was forced to resign from my job, and since then I have been searching for a new opportunity. I have gone through many interview processes and even reached final interview stages, but the rejections have been constant. Every rejection has chipped away at my confidence, leaving me feeling as though I am not enough, that I don't have the value or abilities I once believed I had, and that perhaps I will never fulfill the purpose God has for my life. It also breaks my heart to see my family struggling financially. I used to be able to help them much more than I can now, but today my income is less than half of what I used to earn. I feel helpless because I can no longer support them the way I wish I could. Over time, I have begun to lose hope. There are days when I feel an overwhelming emptiness, deep frustration, and even thoughts of simply wanting to disappear. I want to be clear that I do not want to take my own life because I know my life belongs to God. However, there are moments when I desperately wish I could escape the emotional pain and sadness that I carry every day. In the middle of this struggle, I have turned to things that I know do not honor God. For a long time, I was drinking one or even two bottles of wine almost every day. I have driven at dangerously high speeds, almost as if part of me didn't care what happened. Some days I barely eat anything, while on others I overeat. I have also struggled with pornography and masturbation. There is another area of my heart that I desperately need God to heal. I have realized that I often seek validation through men's attention or find myself sexualizing men in my thoughts. Deep down, I know this is not how God intended me to see others. I believe it comes from years of rejection, loneliness, insecurity, and a deep desire to feel loved, chosen, accepted, and enough. I don't want to continue living this way. I pray that God will heal this part of my heart, renew my mind, and teach me to find my identity and worth in Him alone. Another struggle is that I find it very difficult to build and maintain deep friendships. Although I know many people, I often isolate myself. When I am hurting, I stop responding to messages, withdraw from others, and try to carry everything by myself. The loneliness only makes the sadness and the temptations stronger. Looking back, I realize that these behaviors are not the root of the problem but rather the symptoms of a deeply wounded heart. Throughout my life I have experienced rejection in different ways, and especially over the past year through countless job rejections. Little by little, I have started believing the lie that I am not enough, that I have no value, or that God works powerfully in everyone else's life but not in mine. I know these thoughts are not from Him, yet they have become a constant battle in my mind. Despite all of this, I continue seeking God. Right now, by His grace, I have gone several days without alcohol, pornography, or masturbation. I pray, I read His Word, and I genuinely desire to draw closer to Him. Yet whenever another rejection comes or hopelessness returns, I often fall back into old patterns, and afterward I feel ashamed and defeated. I am not sharing this to excuse my actions or to seek pity. I am sharing it because I truly need spiritual support. I humbly ask you to pray that God would restore my faith, heal the wounds in my heart, break every chain of addiction, rejection, hopelessness, loneliness, and fear, and allow me to experience His peace, His love, and His presence once again. Please also pray that, if it is God's will, He would open the right career opportunity for me—not only because of the financial need, but because I long to use the gifts He has given me to serve others, make a meaningful impact, and fulfill the purpose He has prepared for my life. More than anything, I long to live again with peace, purpose, joy, and the confidence that God still has a good plan for my life, even though right now it is difficult for me to see it. Thank you so much for reading this message and for keeping me in your prayers. May God richly bless each one of you.

We hear your cry, dear sister in Christ, and we lift you up with heavy hearts before the throne of grace. Your honesty and vulnerability are not signs of weakness but of a heart that still seeks the Lord despite the storm. We stand with you in prayer, believing that God sees your pain, hears your longing, and is working even now to bring healing and restoration to every broken place in your life.

First, we must address the foundation of your faith. You mentioned believing in God but struggling to trust Him fully. The Bible tells us, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16). Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and it is only through His name that we have access to the Father. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior, repenting of any sin and surrendering your life fully to Him. This is the first step in experiencing the peace and purpose He offers. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Your struggles do not define you, Christ does.

We see the deep wounds of rejection and loneliness in your heart, and we rebuke the lies of the enemy that have taken root in your mind. The enemy wants you to believe you are not enough, that you have no value, and that God’s promises are not for you. But the Word of God declares, "The Lord appeared of old to me, saying, 'Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love. Therefore I have drawn you with loving kindness'" (Jeremiah 31:3). You are deeply loved by the Creator of the universe, and He has a purpose for your life that no rejection or failure can erase. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,' says the Lord, 'thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future'" (Jeremiah 29:11). We pray that God would break the chains of these lies and replace them with the truth of His Word.

Your struggles with alcohol, reckless behavior, pornography, masturbation, and seeking validation through men’s attention are not just habits, they are symptoms of a heart crying out for healing and wholeness. These things do not honor God, and we must address them with both truth and compassion. The Bible warns, "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own. For you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). These behaviors are not just personal failures; they grieve the Holy Spirit and hinder your relationship with God. But we serve a God who is faithful to forgive and restore. "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). We pray that God would give you the strength to resist these temptations and the wisdom to flee from them.

Your struggle with loneliness and isolation is also a tool the enemy uses to keep you in bondage. The Bible tells us, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). You were not meant to walk this journey alone. We encourage you to seek out a biblical community, a church, a small group, or trusted believers, who can walk alongside you, pray with you, and hold you accountable. Do not withdraw when you are hurting; instead, press into the body of Christ, where you will find love, support, and encouragement.

Your financial struggles and the repeated job rejections have weighed heavily on your heart, and we understand how discouraging this must be. But we serve a God who provides for His children. "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). We pray that God would open the right door for you, not just for financial provision, but for a role where you can use your gifts to serve Him and others. Until that door opens, trust that He is your provider. "Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:31-33).

We also want to speak to the deep longing in your heart for love and acceptance. You are not alone in this desire, but we must caution you against seeking fulfillment in the wrong places. The attention of men, sexual fantasies, or any other earthly validation will never satisfy the void in your heart. Only Christ can fill that place. "You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you" (Augustine). We pray that God would heal the wounds of rejection and loneliness and teach you to find your worth and identity in Him alone. "The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing" (Zephaniah 3:17).

Now, let us lift you up in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our dear sister, lifting her up to You in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord, we thank You that she has come to You with an open and honest heart, seeking Your healing and restoration. We ask that You would draw near to her, surround her with Your presence, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of depression, hopelessness, and despair that has taken hold of her life. We declare that she is not defined by her struggles but by the blood of Jesus Christ, which has set her free. We pray that You would break every chain of addiction, rejection, loneliness, and fear in her life. Replace the lies of the enemy with the truth of Your Word. Let her know that she is deeply loved, chosen, and accepted by You.

Lord, we ask that You would heal the wounds in her heart, those from past rejections, loneliness, and the weight of feeling unworthy. Renew her mind with Your truth and help her to see herself as You see her: a beloved daughter, created with purpose and value. Teach her to find her identity and worth in You alone.

Father, we pray for Your provision in her life. Open the right door for her career, a role where she can use her gifts to serve You and others. Until that door opens, provide for her every need according to Your riches in glory. Give her patience and trust in Your timing.

Lord, we ask that You would strengthen her in her battle against temptation. Give her the power to resist the pull of alcohol, pornography, masturbation, and any other sin that entangles her. Fill her with Your Holy Spirit, that she may walk in purity and holiness. When she stumbles, remind her of Your grace and mercy, and lift her up to try again.

Father, we pray for community in her life. Surround her with godly friends and mentors who will encourage her, pray for her, and hold her accountable. Help her to break free from isolation and to press into the body of Christ, where she can find love and support.

Most of all, Lord, we pray that she would experience Your presence in a tangible way. Let her feel Your love, hear Your voice, and know that You are working all things together for her good. Restore her joy, her peace, and her hope in You. Remind her that You have a good plan for her life, even when she cannot see it.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Dear sister, we want you to know that your struggles do not disqualify you from God’s love or His purpose for your life. In fact, it is often in our weakest moments that God’s strength is made perfect (2 Corinthians 12:9). You are not alone in this battle, and we are standing with you in prayer. Keep pressing into God, even when it feels difficult. His Word is true, and His promises are for you. "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit" (Psalm 34:18). You are loved, you are valued, and you have a purpose that no rejection or failure can erase. Keep fighting the good fight of faith, and trust that God is with you every step of the way.

Thank you for entrusting us with so much of your story, it takes real courage to open up like this. We can hear how heavy the weight has become, and we want you to know you’re not carrying it alone right now.

What stands out to us is how clearly you’ve named the ache beneath the symptoms. You said that the drinking, the addictive patterns, the isolation, and the need for validation all come from a “deeply wounded heart” and years of rejection. That’s a vital insight, because it means the struggle isn’t just about willpower, it’s about healing. And healing happens best when we stop trying to muscle through it by ourselves. Isolation tends to magnify the pain and make the old escape routes feel like the only relief. So one concrete step we’d encourage is to let another safe, real-life person into this fight with you, perhaps a trusted pastor, a mature Christian friend, or a counselor who shares your faith. Many of us have found that walking alongside someone who understands, whether through one-on-one counseling or a confidential support group, takes the shame out of the shadow and makes change far more possible than it feels right now.

It’s also encouraging that by God’s grace you’ve had several days free from alcohol and the other struggles. That’s no small thing, especially under such discouraging circumstances. Even when the rejections and hopelessness return, you’ve shown you can take a different step. Little by little, those steps add up.

We know it’s hard to see meaning in a season of endless closed doors, but your worth and your purpose aren’t determined by a job title or an interviewer’s decision. The very fact that you’re still reaching toward God, still praying and reading His Word, tells us that His hand is on your life even now.

Let’s pray together now:

Lord Jesus, we bring our sister before You. You know the depth of her pain, the lies that have lodged in her heart, and the exhaustion of battling day after day. Quiet the chaos in her mind and let her feel Your steady presence. Heal the wounds that drive her toward things that can’t satisfy. Break the chains of addiction and rejection, and bring the right support into her life, people who will listen without judging and remind her of who she is in You. Please open a door to meaningful work that honors You and provides for her needs. But more than anything, restore her hope and let her rest in Your love, which never depends on her performance. In Your name, Amen.

It is a mercy that you have laid bare your soul, for to hide these wounds would be to let them fester. You speak of a weak trust, yet I perceive a true work of grace in your very grief over sin. Do not mistake the panting of a hungering soul for death; it is life, though faint. Yet I must charge you, and myself as well, to abhor this despair that creeps in like a slow poison. That whisper, "I am not enough, I have no value, God works for others but not for me", is not the accent of humble confession but the hiss of the old serpent. You have no right to this despair; it is an evil word beyond the truth of God. While you breathe, hope is not lost, for the God of hope still offers Himself to you. To sit down in sullen hopelessness is to crown Satan in Christ's stead and to make the precious blood of the covenant a thing of little worth. God forbid it!

Your cry, "I know these thoughts are not from Him, yet I cannot shake them," reveals the very battlefield where faith must lift its shield. Hopelessness in yourself is exactly where we would have you be, paupered, empty-handed, abhorring yourself in dust and ashes like Job. But hopelessness in connection with God is sin. There is no hope for you in yourself; there is all hope for you in Jesus Christ. He is the fountain that flows for those who have nothing and are willing to have everything in Him. Come, then, with your filthy rags and your broken vows. Make a clean breast of every sin before His face, for there is wondrous power in the penitent eye. The throne of grace is not barred against the weeping drunkard or the self-loathing fornicator who flees to the wounds of the Crucified. The fountain is open. The chains you loathe, the wine, the wanton thoughts, the reckless speeding, are not the root but the bitter fruit of a heart that has looked for life in broken cisterns. Yet Christ has worn bonds that you might go free. Will you bind His hands again by seeking pleasure in sin? Will you clasp shut the Bible, hide away His witness, and so put Him in prison? That is a lesson of obligation: you who are set free must not live as though enchained.

I rejoice with the angels that the Lord has given you some days of victory over those brutish lusts. Yet beware of resting in that slender twig of self-denial. Your hope for tomorrow's purity does not lie in your resolve but in Christ in you, the hope of glory. That is the mystery of mysteries: not Christ afar off, but Christ possessed, Christ experienced, Christ filling the soul with love to holiness and comforting it with heavenly inspirations. Get near to Him. In His favour is life. It is not your frantic striving but your beholding of Him that will change you. The eyes of the bride overcome the heart of the Bridegroom. Look long to Him, and He will look upon you. And oh, in this dark season when you long to escape the pain, learn a holy discipline. The Lord sometimes withholds the coveted blessing till we pray in downright earnest. The power that wins the victory has its basis in the love of Christ Himself. Plead His blood. Remind Him of His bond as Surety to bring you safely home. He cannot cast out a soul that clings to Him with both hands, though the grip be feeble.

As for those repeated rejections that have chipped away your confidence, see them not as closed doors but as the ploughing of the fallow ground, preparing you for a harvest you cannot yet imagine. Job sat among the ashes and abhorred himself; then came the latter end more blessed than the beginning. You weep that you cannot support your family as you once did; perhaps the Lord is teaching them to lean on Him and you to serve them by holy prayer and a contented spirit, which is of greater price than silver. In the meanwhile, isolate yourself no longer. The lone sheep is a ready prey for the wolf. You have a place among the believing, the unity of the body, and you must not sever yourself from the fellowship of the saints. Answer the kind messages, sit at the fire of Christian company, and let your hope be rekindled by the warmth of those in whom Christ lives.

And let us have hope for you in our own souls. Christ is praying for you, not as he prays for the world, but with that particular, effectual intercession which upheld Peter and will uphold you. He has a purpose for your life that no jobless season can frustrate. Beloved, begin to sing the sonnets of the hereafter even now. Charm your pilgrim life with the minstrelsy of hope. For you are saved in hope. That hope purifies; it delivers from the guilt and power of sin. It is an anchor sure and steadfast, not because you hold it, but because it holds you. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and for ever. In his unchanging nature you have consolation for your continual sorrows. He is the God of hope, and he will fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost. Do not say, "There is no hope," for there is hope, there is certainty, to every soul that trusts in him. Stop your ears to the lying whispers and fix your gaze upon the risen Lord. He has all power, all grace, all tenderness, and He will perfect that which concerneth you. May the Lord lift up the light of His countenance upon you and give you peace.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
