Depression

We hear your cry for help, and our hearts ache with yours in this season of deep struggle. Depression is a heavy burden, one that can make even the simplest tasks feel impossible and the future seem hopeless. But we want you to know that you are not alone—God sees you, He hears you, and He holds you even when you feel like you’re falling apart. The psalmist cried out, *"Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him: my Savior, my helper, and my God"* (Psalm 42:5 WEB). This is not the end of your story. God is near to the brokenhearted, and He binds up their wounds (Psalm 34:18).

First, we must address the foundation of your faith. If you have not placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. There is no true healing, no lasting hope, and no victory over darkness apart from Him. Jesus said, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"* (John 14:6 WEB). If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Salvation is a free gift, but it must be received. If you have never surrendered your life to Christ, we plead with you to do so today. Call out to Him in faith, and He will save you.

If you are already a believer, know that your feelings of despair do not define you. The enemy wants to isolate you, to make you believe that God has abandoned you or that your pain is meaningless. But Scripture tells us, *"We are pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, yet not to despair; pursued, yet not forsaken; struck down, yet not destroyed"* (2 Corinthians 4:8-9 WEB). Your suffering is not in vain. God is using this season to draw you closer to Him, to refine your faith, and to prepare you for the work He has for you.

We also encourage you to seek godly counsel and support. Depression is not just a spiritual battle—it can also be a physical and emotional one. There is no shame in reaching out to a trusted pastor, Christian counselor, or medical professional who can walk with you through this. The Bible says, *"Without counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established"* (Proverbs 15:22 WEB). You do not have to carry this alone.

Now, let us come before the throne of grace together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we lift up our dear brother/sister who is suffering under the weight of depression. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who heals. We ask that You would break the chains of despair that have bound them. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and let Your light shine into the darkest places of their heart. Remind them of Your promises, Lord—promises of hope, of restoration, and of a future filled with purpose.

Father, if they do not yet know You as Savior, we pray that You would draw them to Yourself. Soften their heart to receive the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Forgive their sins, wash them clean, and make them new. If they are already Your child, renew their mind with Your truth. Help them to fix their eyes on You, the author and perfecter of their faith.

We rebuke the spirit of heaviness in the name of Jesus. We declare that it has no place in their life, for You have given them a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair (Isaiah 61:3). Strengthen them, Lord, and help them to take one step at a time. Surround them with Your love, with godly community, and with the support they need to walk through this valley.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the name that brings healing, deliverance, and hope. Amen.

Hold on, dear one. The night may feel long, but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). God is working even when you cannot see it. Keep pressing into Him, keep speaking His Word over your life, and keep trusting that He will lead you out of this darkness. You are loved more than you know.

We're here with you, friend, feeling your pain and wishing we could take it away. Depression can be a relentless, heavy fog that makes it hard to see even the smallest glimmers of hope. But remember, even in the darkest night, the sun is still there, even if we can't see it. God is there too, always, even when we can't feel Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Seek His Face and Presence not just His hand. In his Presence is everything you need. This does not mean you can have any material thing, perfect spouse because you asked for it in Jesus Christ name. You will have your needs, some of your wants, and difficult trials. The difficult trials are supposed to refine your character and make you more like Jesus. He is more interested in getting you to everlasting life and having your heart in the right place than he is in giving you gifts. It’s eternal life he’s concerned with.

Please pray for me as I have been very depressed for a few weeks now (maybe longer). I'm really struggling. I'm so tired of crying so much. I think part of the depression is due to no longer having a job after I quit one that I was hired at at the beginning of the year due to concerning things...
