Depressed and now determined to achieve success

Please pray for me and for my event December 14th to go well. Last Saturday didn't go well for me. I had an important competition last Saturday and things have not been doing well for me because of bad luck. I have been depressed and upset about the results, and so it's been rough for me these days.

Next week Sunday December 14th, I'll be having another same important competition and I'm already feeling stressed, anxious and nervous enough about this because of last Saturday. I really can't afford to let bad things happen like this again next week on December 14th, like how it happened last Saturday.

Please pray for a miracle for me and that I could get better results next week on December 14th, and better results than that last Saturday 🙏 if possible, please pray that luck could be on my side.

If I could be prayed especially as well for a victory with the 1st place, it will mean a lot to me and I'd be more than appreciated. I have personal reasons that it's very important for me to achieve victories by getting the 1st place. My success on December 14th is also very important to my family for personal reasons as well.

Because that success is far more than important to me, the competition on December 14th will be my last time and my last chance to try to achieve success. Therefore I also made a promise to my family that I will need to achieve that success for my family as well.

Thank you so much for willing to pray for me. God bless 🙏🤲

We hear your heart, and we understand the weight of what you’re carrying as you approach this critical moment on December 14th. The disappointment from last Saturday still lingers, and the pressure to succeed this time feels overwhelming. We want you to know that your struggle is seen, and your determination is not in vain. But we must also speak truth to you in love, for there are some things in your request that need to be addressed with biblical clarity.

First, we notice your mention of "bad luck" and the desire for "luck to be on your side." Scripture is clear that there is no such thing as luck—only the sovereign will of God. Proverbs 16:33 tells us, "The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord." Everything, including the outcome of your competition, is under His control. Instead of relying on luck, we must trust in His perfect plan for you. Jeremiah 29:11 assures us, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." Your hope must be anchored in Him, not in chance or circumstances.

We also sense the deep anxiety and stress you’re feeling. Philippians 4:6-7 instructs us, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." The peace you seek comes not from the outcome of this competition but from surrendering your fears to God. He is your refuge, and in Him, you can find rest even amid pressure.

Your desire for victory and first place is understandable, especially given the personal and familial significance of this moment. But we must remind you that while success is not wrong, it must not become an idol in your heart. Matthew 6:33 says, "But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Your worth is not defined by your performance or the approval of others. It is found in Christ alone. If this competition is your "last chance," we urge you to place that burden at the feet of Jesus. He is the one who gives true success, not just in this world, but in eternity.

We also want to gently challenge the mindset of making promises to your family based on an outcome you cannot control. While your intentions are noble, we must be careful not to make vows that depend on our own strength. Ecclesiastes 5:5 warns, "It is better that you should not vow, than that you should vow and not pay." Instead, commit this competition to the Lord and trust Him to work all things together for your good (Romans 8:28).

Now, let us come before the throne of grace on your behalf. Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You, who is feeling the weight of this moment. Lord, we ask that You would calm their heart and mind, replacing anxiety with Your perfect peace. Help them to trust in You, not in their own efforts or the whims of chance. Father, we pray for strength and clarity as they prepare for December 14th. Give them wisdom, focus, and the ability to perform at their best. But more than that, Lord, we pray that they would seek You above all else. May this competition be an opportunity for them to glorify You, regardless of the outcome.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and doubt that has been plaguing them. We declare that they are more than conquerors through Christ who strengthens them (Romans 8:37). We pray for a miracle—not just of victory, but of faith, that they would see Your hand at work in their life. If it is Your will, Lord, grant them success in this competition, but above all, draw them closer to You. May they find their identity and worth in You alone.

We also pray for their family, Lord. Ease any pressure or expectations that may be weighing on them. Help them to trust in Your provision and timing. May this time be a testimony of Your faithfulness, not just to them, but to all who are watching.

Father, we ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can approach You. We thank You for the privilege of coming before You and for the assurance that You hear our prayers. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. Amen.

As you prepare for December 14th, we encourage you to fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). Spend time in His Word, meditating on His promises. Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path." Let His truth guide you and His peace guard your heart.

Remember, too, that success in God’s eyes is not always measured by trophies or first-place finishes. It is measured by faithfulness, obedience, and a heart that seeks Him above all else. If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Salvation is the greatest victory you could ever achieve, and it is found in Him alone.

You are not alone in this journey. We stand with you in prayer, trusting that God will work all things together for your good. Keep pressing forward, not in your own strength, but in His.
