Disciple of Prayer
I pray to Lord Jesus Christ for his love and strength to guide my adult son who is depressed and hating life. Does not want to see a counselor. Does not want to work or do anything. Does not have the desire to live. Whole family is worried, stressed and emotionally exhausted.

We hear your heart’s cry and stand with you in fervent prayer for your son, lifting him before the throne of grace where mercy and help are found in time of need. The weight of depression is heavy, and the darkness it brings can feel suffocating, not just for him, but for your entire family. Yet we know that even in the deepest valleys, the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

Your son’s resistance to help, whether from counselors, work, or even the desire to live, is a sign of the spiritual and emotional battle raging within him. Depression is not merely a mood; it is often a stronghold that distorts truth, isolates the sufferer, and drains hope. But Scripture reminds us that the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to demolish strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4). We must war in prayer, declaring God’s truth over his mind and heart.

First, we rebuke the spirit of despair and heaviness in Jesus’ name. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Christ came that your son may have life, and have it abundantly. We command every lie that tells him he is worthless, that nothing will change, or that he is a burden to be cast down. The Word declares that he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), created for a purpose, and deeply loved by his Heavenly Father. We speak restoration to his mind, peace to his emotions, and strength to his will.

We also address the family’s exhaustion. Caring for a loved one in this state is a marathon, not a sprint. You must guard your own hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7), seeking the Lord’s wisdom and strength daily. Do not carry this burden alone; lean on your church community, trusted believers, and even professional Christian counselors for support. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and you should not walk this path in isolation.

For your son, we pray this: Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this precious son, asking for Your healing touch to penetrate the darkness in his soul. Lord, You are the God who turns mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11) and restores the years the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25). Break the chains of depression, O God, and replace his despair with hope. Stir within him a hunger for You, a desire to live, and the courage to seek help. Soften his heart to receive the love and support of his family, and open his eyes to the purpose You have for his life. We declare that he is not forgotten, not abandoned, and not without hope. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Encourage your son gently but persistently. Share Scripture with him, Psalm 40:1-3, Jeremiah 29:11, or Lamentations 3:22-23, reminding him that God’s mercies are new every morning. Pray over him, even if he resists, for faith is the assurance of things hoped for (Hebrews 11:1). If he refuses counseling, consider inviting a trusted pastor or mature Christian friend to speak life into him. Sometimes, the voice of someone outside the family can break through where ours cannot.

Lastly, do not lose hope. The God who parted the Red Sea is the same God who can part the clouds of depression in your son’s life. Keep pressing into Him, keep loving your son unconditionally, and trust that the Lord is working even when you cannot see it. Your prayers are not in vain, and your faith will not be put to shame.

We’re holding your family up in prayer, especially for your son who is struggling so deeply right now. It’s heartbreaking to see someone we love feel like life isn’t worth living, and we know how hard this must be for all of you. Please don’t lose heart, God sees your pain and is close to you in this.

We’re asking the Lord to surround your son with His peace, even when it feels impossible. We pray that the enemy’s lies would be silenced and that he’d remember how deeply he’s loved, not just by you, but by our heavenly Father who holds his future. Sometimes depression makes everything feel heavy, but we’re believing God will break through with hope when we least expect it.

To you as a family, we pray for strength and comfort. This is such a tough season, and it’s okay to feel exhausted. God won’t ask you to carry this alone, He’s right there with you, giving grace for each day. Keep leaning on Him, even when it’s hard to see the way forward.

Jesus, we ask for your healing touch over this precious young man. Break the chains of depression and breathe new life into his heart. Let him feel your presence in a way that reminds him he’s not forgotten. And for this family, fill them with your peace and hope that doesn’t depend on circumstances. In your name we pray.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this deeply painful season. It is clear how much you love your son and how heavy this burden has become for your entire family. We have been lifting him before the Lord, asking Jesus to surround him with His peace, to soften his heart, and to draw him into the hope that only Christ can give. We’ve also prayed for you and your family—that the Father would sustain you with His strength, comfort you in your exhaustion, and remind you daily of His unfailing love.

If you’ve seen even the smallest glimmer of change—perhaps a moment of openness, a softened word, or a step toward healing—we would be so encouraged to hear about it. Your praise report could be a light to others walking this same path. If, however, the weight of this struggle remains unchanged, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are here to continue praying with you, to intercede for your son’s breakthrough, and to ask the Holy Spirit to move in ways only He can.

In the meantime, we are asking God to meet you in your weariness, to give you wisdom in how to love your son without carrying the weight of his choices, and to remind you that His grace is sufficient—even in the waiting. May you feel His presence in the quiet moments, and may He reveal His faithfulness in ways you never expected. We pray this in the powerful name of Jesus.
