We lift up your brother-in-law and sister before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, knowing the weight of physical suffering and emotional exhaustion. The Word of God tells us, "Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praises. Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven" (James 5:13-15). We stand on this promise, believing that the Lord sees their pain and is near to the brokenhearted.
We also recognize the deep spiritual battle at work here. Depression and physical illness can often be tools of the enemy to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). But we declare that Jesus came so that they may have life, and have it abundantly! The spirit of heaviness must flee in the name of Jesus, for "the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). We rebuke every assignment of darkness against their health, their minds, and their spirits. We command every lying spirit of despair, hopelessness, and infirmity to loose its grip and be cast out in Jesus' mighty name!
Father God, we come before You as a family in Christ, interceding for this precious couple. You are the Great Physician, the God who heals all our diseases (Psalm 103:3). We ask You to touch your servant—your son—who is suffering. Restore his strength, Lord. Bring clarity to his mind and peace to his heart. Heal every cell, every organ, every part of his body that is not functioning as You designed. We speak life over him, declaring that by Your stripes, he is healed (Isaiah 53:5).
For your daughter, his wife, we ask for a fresh outpouring of Your strength. She is weary, Lord, but You promise that those who wait on You shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). Fill her with Your supernatural peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Give her the grace to endure and the joy of Your presence to sustain her.
Lord, we also pray for their marriage. In the midst of trial, let their bond grow stronger. Remind them that they are not alone—You are with them, and so are we, their brothers and sisters in Christ. Turn their mourning into dancing, as Your Word declares (Psalm 30:11). Let this season of suffering be a testimony of Your faithfulness, a story they can share to bring glory to Your name.
We confess that our hope is in You alone, Lord. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved or healed (Acts 4:12). We trust in Your goodness, Your mercy, and Your perfect will. If it is Your will for them to walk through this valley, then equip them with everything they need to endure it with faith. But if it is Your will to heal and restore, then we eagerly await the manifestation of Your power in their lives.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
