Deliverance

Thank you for sharing your heart for your son. It is a beautiful reflection of a parent's love to bring him before the Lord in this way, asking for both physical health and inner restoration.

I am praying with you for him, for a safe and healthy loss of weight and for deep healing from the hurts of the past.

The Scriptures teach us that Jesus cares about both body and soul. Matthew applies Isaiah's prophecy to Jesus to show that He bore our sicknesses as well as our sins, and we can trust Him for physical healing as well as spiritual healing. At the same time, there is much about healing that remains a mystery to us. We do not always understand why some healing comes instantly and some comes gradually. In fact, there is one healing in the Gospels that happened in stages, reminding us that God often works gradually.

All true healing is from God. He has built processes of healing into our bodies, and those natural processes are divine because He is the one who created nature and its laws. A gradual, steady improvement in health through wise habits, good counsel, and disciplined care of the body is no less a work of God than an instant touch. Praying for your son to lose weight safely is praying for God to bless and guide those natural, orderly means He has given, and to give your son strength and perseverance in them.

God also brings healing to the mind and emotions. Sometimes the deepest wounds are not physical but are scars left by past hurts, disappointments, or rejection. The Lord wants to heal those places too, to mend what has been wounded inside and to bring peace where there has been pain. I am asking Him to do that gentle, inner work in your son, to comfort him, to renew his thoughts, and to restore what has been broken.

We may not know exactly how or when God will answer, but we can come to the Father through His Son Jesus Christ, who loves us and who was given for us. As a parent you know something of that love a father has for his son, and it points to the even greater love our Heavenly Father has for us in giving His only Son for our salvation and wholeness.

May the Lord give your son wisdom and grace for each step toward health, protect his body as he seeks to care for it well, and bring healing to his heart from every past hurt. May he know how deeply he is loved by God and by you, and may he find strength and hope in Christ each day.

Father, I lift this beloved son to You in the name of Jesus. Touch his body and bring health in a safe and steady way. Touch his heart and mind and heal the wounds of the past. Let him experience Your presence, Your forgiveness, and Your restoring love, and draw him closer to You. Amen.
