Safe Shelter
The Chief of Sinners
The Sun-Struck Child
We join you in lifting up your son before the Lord and we thank you for bringing his needs to us in prayer. We carry both his physical health and the deep hurts of his heart to the Father together, asking for deliverance, healing and strength in Jesus name.

We know God cares about both body and soul. His Word tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 that our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in us, whom we have from God, and that we are not our own for we were bought with a price, therefore we are to glorify God in our body and in our spirit, which are God's. We also read in 1 Corinthians 10:31 that whether we eat or drink or whatever we do, we are to do all to the glory of God. This reminds us that safe and lasting weight loss is not about vanity or quick fixes but about stewardship, self control and honoring God with our health. The fruit of the Spirit includes self control in Galatians 5:22-23, and we pray the Lord will grow that fruit in your son, helping him make wise daily choices with food, activity and rest, and guiding him to seek wise medical counsel as needed rather than harmful or extreme methods. We pray for deliverance from any bondage, whether it be emotional eating, unhealthy habits, shame or discouragement, and we trust that God can set him free to walk in strength and discipline one day at a time.

We also lift up the past hurts that still weigh on his heart. The Lord sees every wound and He is the healer of the brokenhearted. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. And in Psalm 34:18 we are reminded that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. We pray that your son will bring those hurts into the light of Christ, that he will be able to forgive as he has been forgiven and release bitterness that can keep the heart in chains. We encourage him to cast his anxieties on the Lord, for Philippians 4:6-7 tells us in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We want to gently share something we noticed, that your request did not mention the name of Jesus. We say this in love because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life, No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To pray in Jesus name is not just a phrase, it is confessing our faith that Christ died for our sins and rose again, and that we trust Him alone for forgiveness and eternal life. If your son has not yet placed his trust in Jesus, we pray today that he will believe in Him, confess Him as Lord and follow Him, for that is where true deliverance and healing begin. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

We pray together now. Father, we lift this precious son to You in the name of Jesus. We ask for Your deliverance over his life, break every chain that holds him back and set him free. We ask for wisdom and grace for safe weight loss, for a healthy body, for energy and self control, and for guidance for those helping him in his health. Touch his heart and heal the past hurts, wash away shame, anger and sorrow, and fill him with Your peace and hope. Help him to see himself as You see him, loved, valued and created with purpose. Draw him close to Jesus, that he may know Your forgiveness and walk in newness of life. We ask that You work all things for his good and Your glory. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to walk beside him with prayer, encouragement and gentle accountability, speaking truth in love, celebrating small steps of progress and pointing him always to Christ as his strength and healer. We are standing with you in faith that God who began a good work will be faithful to complete it.

We've been thinking of you and your son after reading your request. It's a loving thing to bring both his physical health and the deeper hurts from the past to the Lord, wanting him to be well in every way.

Wanting weight loss to happen safely is wise, and wanting healing from old wounds takes patience. Those two things can feel tangled together at times, and healing often happens little by little rather than all at once. Alongside prayer, it can help to have steady, caring support in both areas. If he is open to it, encouraging him to talk with his primary care doctor about a safe, sustainable plan is a good next step, and for the past hurts, gently asking him if he would like to talk with a trusted pastor or counselor when he is ready can give him a safe place to process at his own pace. Just continuing to let him know you are for him without pressure matters more than you may realize.

Father, we lift this son to You in Jesus' name. You know his body, his story, and the hurts he still carries. We ask for Your healing touch, for wisdom for those caring for him, and for daily strength and encouragement as he moves forward. Guide his steps and remind him he is deeply loved and not alone. Amen.

Your burden for your son has been brought before the Lord with tender care, and we join you in seeking His gracious help for both body and soul.

We have prayed that God would grant your son wisdom and strength to care for his body as the temple of the Holy Spirit, that any loss of weight would be safe and sustained, ordered by discipline and sound counsel, and not by harsh or harmful means. We have asked the Lord to give him self control, perseverance and peace in this endeavor, and to guide those who may advise him in matters of health.

We have prayed also for that deeper healing which only Christ can give. Scripture tells us, He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds, and that the leaves of the tree of life were for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ has healing virtue in it, and His healing power is still present to make the nature other than it was before. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He first said, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins are forgiven thee, to show us that pardon and healing are one in His hand.

May your son know that healing must come from the Lord Himself, who took our sicknesses and infirmities upon Himself. Where past hurts have left a broken heart, may the great Physician touch him, lift him up as He lifted Peter's wife's mother by the hand, and make him whole. May the joy of pardon make the sorrow of the past to be remembered no more, for God has said He will remember our sins no more for His own Son's sake, and He delights to give abundant streams of healing to those who come to Him.

We pray that your son will be drawn to hear the Word of Christ, for faith cometh by hearing, and that in hearing he will find not only bodily strength but renewal of spirit, that being healed he may rise and serve the Lord with gladness.

May the Lord keep you both in His care, give you patience as you intercede, and let you see His faithful hand at work in due season. We commend your son to the Sun of Righteousness who rises with healing in His wings, trusting that He who began a good work will perfect it.

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
