Silas
Beloved of All
We are joining you in prayer for you and your son and asking the Lord to bring His deliverance, protection and healing into your lives.
Scripture shows that the curses pronounced from Mount Ebal in Deuteronomy 27 and 28 were covenant warnings for breaking God's law. After each curse the people were to answer Amen, agreeing that God's judgment is right. The blessings for obedience are described in only a few verses, while the curses are many and are said to pursue and overtake those who turn away from the voice of the Lord. The point is not that words spoken by others have magical power over a believer, but that disobedience brings consequences, and all of us have fallen short. The good news is that Jesus Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, as Galatians 3:13 teaches. On the cross He bore our sin and our infirmities, fulfilling what Isaiah prophesied, surely He has borne our sicknesses and carried our pains, which Matthew applies to the healing ministry of Jesus. If you belong to Christ, no curse can cling to you apart from Him. We pray that any influence of evil or oppression against you and your son would be broken in the name of Jesus, and that you would walk in the freedom and blessing that are yours through His blood, living in obedience and trust before the Lord.
We also pray for your son's health. God cares for both body and soul, and Jesus showed His compassion by healing every kind of sickness and disease among the people. The Bible also teaches that we should not presume that God wills instant healing in every case in the way we expect. Paul prayed three times for his thorn in the flesh and the Lord answered with sustaining grace. Sometimes Jesus healed instantly with a word, sometimes with a touch, and once gradually. All healing is from God, whether it comes in a moment or through a process. The natural processes of healing that God built into our bodies are themselves divine. We pray that the Lord will give your son wisdom, strength and self control to lose weight in a safe and healthy way, that He will guide any doctors or counselors who help him, and that He will establish lasting habits that honor God and care for the body He has given. We ask for protection from harmful or extreme methods and for steady, gradual improvement according to the Lord's will.
We pray too for healing from past hurts. Deep wounds often come from broken trust and from those closest to us, when words that seemed smooth cover a hurtful heart. Jesus understands that pain and He is able to heal not only the body but the mind and emotions. When we come to Him, He forgives our sins and blots out the past, bringing times of refreshing from His presence. We ask that God would blot out the guilt and shame of what has happened, heal the scars and memories that still hurt, and fill your son's heart with peace, assurance and hope. May the Lord replace old wounds with His love and renew his mind day by day.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we ask You to break every chain and every work of darkness against this family. Cover them with the blood of Jesus, let no curse remain, and let Your blessing rest upon them. Grant to this son physical health, safe and steady progress toward a healthy weight, and complete healing of heart and mind from past hurts. Help him to know he is loved, forgiven and made new in Christ, and to walk forward in obedience and joy. We trust Your goodness and Your perfect will, and we thank You that You hear our prayer. Amen.
