Silas
Beloved of All
We are praying with you for deliverance and healing for you and your son.
Scripture shows that when Israel entered the land, the blessings for obedience were spoken from one mountain and the curses for disobedience from the other, from Mount Ebal. After each curse was spoken, the people were to answer Amen, acknowledging that the judgment was right. In Deuteronomy 27 and 28 you can see how much is said about the curses. There are only a few verses about the blessings and many more about the curses, because the people were prone to disobey. The message was clear and conditional, if you will diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God to keep His commandments, blessing will come upon you, but if you turn from His voice and do not keep His covenant, the curses will pursue and overtake you. Those curses were the covenant consequences for breaking God's law.
That is why our hope is not in trying to break a spoken spell on our own, but in Jesus Christ. He has authority in the spiritual realm and commands evil powers and they obey Him. On earth He showed that same authority in healing. He cleansed the leper, healed the centurion's servant, healed Peter's mother in law, and when multitudes came in the evening with sicknesses and those oppressed by evil spirits, He healed them. Matthew connects this to the prophecy in Isaiah 53 verse 4, that He Himself bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. Through His death and resurrection He bore the curse of the law for us so that we are no longer under its condemnation, and we can come to God through faith in Him alone for forgiveness and freedom.
We also pray for your son's physical health and for safe weight loss. God has created the body with natural processes for healing and restoration, and that working is no less divine because it happens through natural means. In the Gospels we see Jesus heal in different ways, sometimes instantly with a touch, sometimes with a word from a distance, sometimes gradually. There is no single pattern He is confined to. We trust Him both for His power to heal instantly and for His wisdom to work gradually through healthy habits, wise choices, good counsel, and the body's own healing processes that He designed. We ask the Lord to give your son strength, discipline, and encouragement, and to guide him to safe and steady ways to care for his body.
We pray as well for healing from past hurts. The Lord does not only heal the body, He heals the mind and the emotions. He can heal the scars and wounds that remain from what has happened in the past and bring peace where there has been pain.
So we pray together, Father in heaven, we come in the name of Jesus Christ and ask for Your protection and deliverance over this family. We ask that any power of sin, accusation, or oppression be broken by the blood of Jesus, and that they would walk in the freedom of those who are redeemed from the curse through Christ. Lay Your healing hand upon this son. Grant him health in his body, help him to lose weight safely and in a way that strengthens him, and give him wisdom for daily decisions about food, rest, and activity. Heal his heart from past hurts, comfort him, renew his mind, and fill him with Your peace. Draw both mother and son closer to Jesus, to trust His voice and keep His ways, and to know the blessing of walking with Him. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who bore our griefs and infirmities. Amen.
