Deliverance

Thank you for sharing your heart and asking for prayer for freedom and deliverance. I have prayed for you, and I continue to pray that the Lord will lift this long battle and bring you into the liberty that is yours in Jesus Christ.

What you are experiencing is real. Our deepest battles are not physical. They are spiritual, and there is a constant warfare going on in the unseen realm around us. Often we are not fully aware of it, yet we feel the impact of it in our own lives. Much of that warfare centers on the mind, the battle for who will control our thoughts, whether the desires of the flesh or the life of the Spirit. Scripture describes this inner conflict clearly, and it helps to know that you are not alone in feeling torn and weary from it.

God has not left us without help for this kind of warfare. The weapons for a spiritual battle must be spiritual, and He has provided them. His Word, faith in Him, and prayer are the means by which we stand against the attacks of the enemy and find victory. When the enemy brings lies, accusation, fear, or temptation, the truth of Scripture answers him. When we feel weak, faith looks to Jesus and His finished work. When we feel surrounded, prayer brings us into the presence of the One who is greater than any power that opposes us.

Jesus came to set us free, and true freedom is found only in Him. The world and even religious striving can bring people into bondage through fear and through trying to earn what can only be received by grace. Whatever overcomes a person brings that person into bondage, and sin itself enslaves. But Jesus said that if we continue in His Word and know the truth, the truth will make us free. The freedom He gives is not just freedom to do whatever we want, it is the far greater freedom of not having to do those things that once controlled us, freedom not to be driven by destructive desires or habits or thoughts.

That freedom is precious and it is worth guarding. The apostle Paul wrote that though all things may be lawful, he would not be brought under the power of any. It is possible to use liberty in a way that leads back into bondage, and the enemy will try to use that. So guard your freedom by keeping your mind filled with what is true and holy, by turning quickly to the Lord in prayer, and by leaning on His Word day by day. Abstain from the desires of the flesh that war against the soul, and set your mind on the things of the Spirit, which bring life and peace.

My prayer for you is that God will give you a fresh experience of His deliverance. May He quiet the warfare in your mind, break every chain that has held you, and fill you with His peace and strength. May He teach you to stand in the victory Jesus has already won, to use the spiritual weapons He has given, and to walk in the glorious liberty of being His child, no longer a slave to sin or fear, but free in Christ.

You are known and loved by God, and He is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you. Keep looking to Jesus, keep feeding on His Word, keep praying honestly from your heart, and trust Him to bring you through this battle into lasting freedom.
