Deliverance

Your request for prayer has been heard and I am grateful you brought these burdens forward. There is comfort in knowing that God hears when we bring our needs to Him honestly.

Concerning curses, Scripture helps us understand what they truly are. In Deuteronomy chapters 27 and 28, the people stood in the valley while blessings were spoken from one mountain and curses from the other for breaking God's covenant. After each warning the people were to answer Amen, acknowledging that God's judgment is right. The blessings were promised if they would listen carefully and obey the Lord, and the curses were described as pursuing and overtaking those who turned away from Him. There were only a few verses of blessing and many more of curses, showing how seriously God views disobedience. But the good news of the gospel is that Jesus has borne the curse for us. As Galatians teaches, Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. That means for those who are in Christ, no spoken wish or evil word has power over you. You do not need to live in fear of curses. If there has been sin, we confess it and turn from it, and we rest in the forgiveness and protection that Jesus gives. He is our deliverance and our covering.

For your son and his desire to lose weight safely, we can pray with confidence that God cares for our bodies. The Bible shows that Jesus healed in many different ways. Sometimes He healed instantly with a word, sometimes with a touch, and once He healed gradually in stages. All healing is from God, even when it comes through natural processes. God created our bodies with the ability to heal and to be restored, and that process itself is divine because He designed it. Safe and lasting change in health is often gradual rather than immediate, and we can trust the Lord to guide wisdom, self control and good stewardship day by day. We pray for strength, for discipline without harshness, and for health that honors Him.

For healing from past hurts, the Lord also offers deep restoration. The prophet Isaiah said that the Messiah would bear our sicknesses and carry our sorrows, and Matthew applies that to the healing work of Jesus. That includes wounds of heart and mind as well as the body. The apostle Paul wrote that he counted his old life as loss and kept counting it as loss, choosing not to live in the past but to press forward toward Christ. Past experiences only help us when they are brought into a present walk with Jesus. That means we do not have to keep rehearsing old injuries or living under their weight. We can bring those memories to the Lord, ask Him to heal the scars, and learn to forget what lies behind in the sense of releasing its hold on us, so we can follow Him forward.

Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we thank You that You are greater than every fear and every word spoken against Your children. We ask that You make clear to this family the freedom they have in Christ, that any chain of sin or condemnation would be broken, and that they would walk in Your blessing as they walk in obedience to You. We pray for this son, that You would grant him health in body and mind, guide him to safe and steady ways to care for his body, and give him encouragement and peace in the process. We ask for healing of past hurts, that You would touch the places of pain and bring wholeness, comfort and renewed hope. Fill this home with Your presence and help them to keep their eyes on Jesus today and in the days ahead. Amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have been lifting you and your son before the Lord for deliverance, praying that every curse against you both is ended and broken now by the power of Jesus Christ, remembering that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law as written in Galatians 3:13. We have also continued to pray for your son that he would lose weight safely and in a healthy way, and for complete healing from past hurts, asking our Father to heal the brokenhearted and bind up his wounds according to Psalm 147:3 and to restore him in body, mind and spirit.

We are thankful to stand with you for this freedom and healing. If your request has been answered and you have seen the Lord bring deliverance and healing, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not yet seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ. We continue to pray for your full deliverance and for your sons health and wholeness, in Jesus Name Amen.
