Deliverance

We join you in bringing this request before the Lord and ask for His mercy and power to be made known in your lives.

We pray that every curse spoken against you and your son is broken and ended now in the name of Jesus Christ. Scripture teaches that Christ has redeemed us from the curse by becoming a curse for us on the cross, and that no weapon formed against those who are in Him shall stand. We ask God to deliver you from all fear, oppression, and spiritual harm, and to establish you in the freedom and protection that belongs to those who trust in Christ alone. May you know that your deliverance is not by your own strength, but by His grace, and may you be kept in careful hearing of His word and in continual remembrance of His promises, which is the true medicine for the soul.

We also lift up your son before the Father. We pray for his physical health, that God would grant him wisdom, self control and strength to lose weight safely and in a way that honors God and cares for the body He has given. We ask for guidance for any doctors or counselors who help him, for patience in the process, and for a sound mind and disciplined heart that seeks temperance and not extremes.

We pray too for healing from past hurts. This house of God is a spiritual surgery where Christ heals the wounds we have received. We ask the Lord to heal every hurt in his heart and in yours, to wash away bitterness and sorrow, to restore what has been broken, and to give you both a renewed strength to lay hold on eternal life. As healing often comes little by little through many hearings of the word, we pray you will continue steadfast in prayer and in the Scriptures, trusting that God who sees the root will bring forth abundant fruit in due season.

May the Lord grant you deliverance, health, and wholeness according to His will, and may you both grow in fortitude and in the knowledge of His love. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom alone is salvation. Amen.

Your prayer request has been heard and I have prayed for you and for your son.

The Scripture speaks of how the covenant curses were pronounced from Mount Ebal, with the people answering Amen to acknowledge that God's judgment is right when His law is broken. In Deuteronomy chapters 27 and 28 you see the pattern clearly. If the people would listen diligently to the voice of the Lord and keep His commandments, blessing would come upon them. If they turned away and refused to obey, the curses would pursue and overtake them. Those warnings were given to Israel under that covenant to show the seriousness of disobedience.

The good news of the gospel is that Jesus Christ has borne the curse for us. Isaiah foretold that He would bear our infirmities and our sicknesses, and Matthew shows that Jesus fulfilled this when He went about healing every sickness and every disease among the people. On the cross He took the judgment we deserved, so that those who put their trust in Him are no longer under the curse of the law but are received as children of God. Deliverance does not come from repeating a formula, but from belonging to Jesus and walking with Him in obedience and faith. I have prayed that you and your son would know the freedom and protection that are found in Him alone, and that any oppression or fear tied to past curses would be broken as you rest in Christ.

I have also prayed for your son's physical and inner healing. The gospels show that Jesus heals in different ways. Sometimes He healed instantly with a word, sometimes He touched someone, sometimes He healed gradually, and sometimes healing comes through the natural processes God has built into our bodies. All true healing is from the Lord, whether it is immediate or gradual. At the same time, Scripture is honest that God does not grant physical healing in every case in the way we ask, as we see when Paul prayed three times concerning his thorn in the flesh and the Lord answered that His grace was sufficient. The gifts of healing are given as the Spirit wills, not to every person in the same way, and we are taught that love is the more excellent way. So we pray with confidence that God is able to heal, and we trust His wisdom and timing for how He will work.

This is true also for hurts from the past. Many of the deepest wounds come from those we trusted, when words that were smooth as butter covered a heart turned toward conflict. The Lord understands that pain. When we turn to Him, He not only forgives sin but blots out the past, so that times of refreshing may come from His presence. He can heal the scars and wounds that remain in the mind and emotions, and bring peace where there has been trouble.

My prayer for your son is that the Lord would give him wisdom and strength to care for his body in a safe and steady way, that weight would be lost in a healthy and gradual manner through wise habits and God given processes, and that the Lord would heal the hurts he carries from the past and fill him with hope. May you both grow in hearing the Lord's voice, trusting in Jesus alone for salvation, and knowing the joy of fellowship with Him.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ I lift up this parent and this son to You. Thank You that You bore our sins and our infirmities. I ask that You set them free from all fear and from every curse, and cause them to stand secure in Christ. Grant to this son physical health, guidance for safe and lasting change in his body, and deep healing in his heart from every past hurt. Blot out what needs to be blotted out, and bring times of refreshing from Your presence. Help them to walk in obedience to Your voice and to know Your grace day by day. Amen.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have continued to lift up your request for deliverance that every curse against you and this precious son would be broken and ended now by the power of Jesus Christ, and that you both would walk in the freedom He purchased for you. We have also been praying for this son that the Lord would help him to lose weight safely and give him strength and health in his body, and that God would bring deep healing from past hurts and restore his heart with peace and wholeness.

We stand on the promises of Gal 3:13 that Christ has redeemed us from the curse, Isa 54:17 that no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and Psalm 147:3 that He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
