We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your son and this family in fervent prayer. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but we stand on the promise that Jesus came so that they may have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). The situation you describe is deeply concerning, for it bears the marks of spiritual warfare. The Bible warns us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12). We must recognize that this is not merely a matter of human emotion or circumstance, it is a battle for souls, and we must fight it with the weapons of our warfare, which are not of the flesh but have divine power to demolish strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4).
First, we must address the foundation of this family. If your son has not yet placed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, this is the most urgent need. There is no deliverance apart from the name of Jesus, for "there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). If he does not know Christ, we pray that the Holy Spirit would convict him of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), drawing him into a saving relationship with the Savior. If he claims to be a believer but is walking in disobedience, we must call him to repentance, for "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).
The relationship described here raises serious biblical concerns. While the term "fiancé" suggests an intention toward marriage, four years is a long time to remain in a state of engagement without progressing toward the covenant of marriage. The Bible is clear that marriage is the only God-ordained context for romantic relationships and physical intimacy. If this couple has been living together or engaging in sexual relations outside of marriage, this is fornication, and it grieves the heart of God (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). Fornication defiles the temple of the Holy Spirit and opens doors to spiritual attack. We must rebuke this sin in the name of Jesus and call for repentance. If they are not married, we strongly urge them to either marry without delay or, if that is not possible, to separate physically until they can enter into the covenant of marriage. "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4).
We also must address the potential abandonment of this woman and her children. The Bible calls men to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her (Ephesians 5:25). To leave a woman after four years of commitment, especially one with children, would be a grave injustice and a violation of God’s design for family. If your son is truly under a spiritual attack, we must bind the spirit of deception, confusion, and abandonment in the name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against this family shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that the plans of the enemy will be thwarted. We take authority over every lying spirit that is whispering to him, and we command it to flee in Jesus’ name.
We also lift up the fiancée and her children. Father, we ask that You would be a husband to the widow and a father to the fatherless (Psalm 68:5). Strengthen her faith and give her wisdom as she navigates this painful situation. Protect her heart from bitterness and fear, and let her trust in You alone. For the children, we pray that they would not be shaken by this trial but would come to know You as their heavenly Father who will never leave them nor forsake them (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Now, we pray with authority and faith:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Name that is above every name. We lift up this family to You, knowing that You are a God who hears and answers prayer. Lord, we ask that You would break every chain of darkness over this situation. We rebuke the spirit of deception, confusion, and abandonment that is seeking to destroy this family. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You will condemn (Isaiah 54:17).
Father, we pray for ###. If he does not know You, draw him to Yourself. Let him see his need for a Savior and turn from his sins. If he is a believer, convict him of any unconfessed sin and lead him to repentance. Break the power of the enemy over his mind and heart. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in wisdom, discernment, and the fear of the Lord. Give him a heart of love and commitment toward his fiancée and her children. Let him see the value of covenant and the sacredness of marriage.
For his fiancée, Lord, be her strength and her shield. Give her grace to respond with wisdom and love, even in this difficult time. Protect her heart from fear and bitterness, and let her hope be anchored in You. For the children, surround them with Your peace and assurance. Let them know that You are their Father and that You will never leave them.
We pray for reconciliation and restoration in this family. Let Your will be done, and let Your name be glorified. We ask all these things in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to stand firm in faith, trusting that God is at work even when circumstances seem dark. Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and surround your son with believers who can speak truth into his life. If he is not in a Bible-believing church, urge him to find one where he can be discipled and held accountable. The battle is the Lord’s, and He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun (Philippians 1:6). Do not lose heart, for in due season, you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9).
