Deliverance

Your request has been brought before the Lord and we join you in prayer for deliverance and healing.

We give thanks to God even as we make supplication, for every prayer should be accompanied with thanksgiving. Scripture teaches that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us, so that the blessing promised to Abraham might come to all who are in Him. Therefore we do not fear curses spoken by others as if they had power over those who belong to Christ, and we do not return curse for curse. As we have been taught, cursing and praying are far apart, and the mouth that has been made clean by grace should not bear curses but blessing. If there has been bitterness or unforgiveness toward those who have caused hurt, we pray that the Lord will give grace to forgive as we have been forgiven, that our prayers may be offered with a pure heart.

So we pray now for you and for your son. We ask the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, who alone is our salvation, to set you free from every oppression, to break every chain of darkness, and to let no weapon or word formed against you stand. May He guard your hearts and minds in Christ and fill your home with His peace. For your son we ask for healing from past hurts, that the Lord who heals the brokenhearted would bring comfort, restore what has been wounded, and renew his mind by the continual hearing of the Word. We ask also for wisdom and health in his body, that he may lose weight safely and in a way that strengthens him, with self control, sound guidance, and care for the body as a gift from God.

We encourage you to continue in the careful hearing and recollection of Scripture, in fortitude and in prayer, cultivating every part of virtue and not one part only. For deliverance is not found in riches or in worldly things, but in walking steadily in the way of Christ, trusting His mercy day by day.

May the Lord grant you health, wholeness, and steady hope, and may He keep you in His grace and love. We will continue to pray with you.

Thank you for sharing this burden and allowing prayer for you and your son. I join you in bringing these needs before the Lord.

In Scripture the curses you mentioned are described in Deuteronomy. From Mount Ebal the Levites pronounced curses upon disobedience to God's covenant, and the people answered Amen to each one, acknowledging that judgment was right. Cursed is the one who dishonors father or mother, who moves a neighbor's boundary, who commits sexual sin and other acts of rebellion. When you read chapters 27 and 28 you find only a few verses of blessing for carefully obeying the voice of the Lord, and many verses of curses that would pursue and overtake those who turned away. The emphasis is heavy on the curses because disobedience was so common.

The good news of the gospel is that Jesus Christ has borne that curse for us. Isaiah foretold that He would bear our griefs and infirmities, and Matthew shows that Jesus fulfilled this as He went about healing every sickness and disease and having authority over evil powers. Galatians teaches that Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. So we do not pray as those still under the pronouncement from that mountain, but as those who come through the cross where the penalty was carried. I pray that any oppression or spoken evil against you and your son would be broken in Jesus' name, and that you would walk in the freedom and blessing of knowing your sins forgiven and your past blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.

For your son I pray for safe and steady help with weight. God has built healing processes into our bodies, and all true healing is from Him, whether it comes instantly with a touch or a word, or gradually over time through wisdom, discipline, and natural means. Sometimes the Lord heals at once, sometimes He heals step by step, and sometimes He works through daily choices and the care of others. I pray the Lord gives your son wisdom, self control, and encouragement, and guides any counsel or medical help he receives, so that weight can be lost in a healthy and lasting way that honors God and strengthens his body.

I also pray for healing from past hurts. Those wounds that come from broken trust and harsh words can hurt more deeply than physical pain, when words were smooth as butter but war was in the heart. The Lord sees those scars and is able to heal not only the body but the mind and emotions. He blots out what is past for those who come to Him, lifts the burden of guilt and condemnation, and brings restoration. I pray He will heal the memories and sorrows your son carries, replace shame and pain with peace, and teach him to live in fellowship with Christ day by day.

We do not understand why some are healed quickly and others walk a longer road. Even the apostle Paul prayed three times for his thorn in the flesh and learned to rest in God's grace and strength. Not everyone is given the same gifts of healing, for the body has many members, and the more excellent way is love. Yet we are invited to ask, to trust, and to keep looking to Jesus who bore our sicknesses and our sins.

Father, in the name of Jesus I lift this family to You. Break every chain and every evil influence, and let no curse have hold where Christ has set free. Grant to this son health in body and wholeness in heart. Lead him in safe steps toward strength, comfort him in hurts from the past, and blot out what needs to be forgiven and forgotten. Fill this home with Your peace, Your presence, and the joy of walking with You. Amen.
