Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. You ask for deliverance from curses, yet know this: no curse has power over a soul that clings to Christ. The real curse is sin itself, and the weight that binds your son is not merely in the body but in the wounds of a heart that has not yet found its full healing in the Master's care. You cannot cast out what God has not named as an enemy, but you can flee to the Physician of souls. The evil one delights in making us fixate on words of harm spoken by men, drawing us into fear and superstition. Did I not say that suffering wrong with thankfulness is greater than giving spontaneously? If you have not blasphemed, not run to diviners, but held fast in faith, then the loss becomes gain, and the devil's arrows work your benefit.

For the body, look to the soul first. Many think they wage war against flesh, but the true battle is within the will. If you pamper the flesh, it is not the flesh that sins but the soul that chooses indulgence. Teach your son to bring his appetites under the command of reason and the fear of God. Continual hearing of the Word will destroy even persistent desire. The wounds of his past must be laid on the altar of Christ, who was wounded for us. He must not nurse them in solitude but expose them in the surgery of the church, where the Spirit heals. Let him learn to despise comfort that comes from food, which is a fleeting master, and seek the food that endures to eternal life.

Do not treat this as a mere breaking of spells, but as a turning of the whole man to God. A careful hearing of Scripture, a resolute heart, and contempt for worldly things are all required. No one part is sufficient for salvation. Let your son not seek a quick loosening of physical weight only, but the casting off of every burden that clings to the soul. If he endures the discipline of the body as a loss willingly borne for Christ, he will receive a hundredfold of spiritual strength.

Pray rather that both of you may be delivered from what truly curses a man: the love of money, the slavery to appetites, the forgetfulness of the resurrection. For if judgment is real and the resurrection certain, then the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing to the glory to come. Let this be your entreaty: that the Lord would draw you both so near to Himself that no past hurt holds sway, and no craving of the flesh drowns out the Spirit. For the body is not evil, but a depraved will makes it so. Correct the unruly passion, and the members will serve righteousness.

Your prayer for deliverance from curses and for your son’s healing touches on deep biblical realities. In Deuteronomy, when the people stood on Mount Ebal, they cried out the curses that would come upon disobedience. Each one was met with a sober “Amen,” acknowledging the weight of turning from God’s voice. Curses are real, and the sense of being under one can feel inescapable. But the good news is that what the law pronounced, Christ bore in His body on the tree. For those in Him, every curse is broken, because He became the curse for us. That means you don’t have to fear that some generational or spoken word still clings to you. If you have turned to Jesus, the past verdict is silenced. Yet if there has been any pattern of walking away from His commands, holding contempt, harboring hidden sins, then the path to freedom begins with honest confession and a renewed hearkening to His voice. The curses are not yours any longer because the Righteous One took them.

For your son’s weight loss, think of this as a kind of healing. Healing takes many forms in Scripture, sometimes immediate, sometimes gradual. Jesus touched a leper and the body was restored in a moment; at other times, He sent someone home with the process still unfolding. Any true recovery of health is divine, whether it comes through the body’s own God-designed processes or a sudden intervention. So we can pray confidently that He will guide your son into wise choices, discipline, and a steady path to wholeness. Don’t despise the slow work; even the gradual healing witnessed at Bethsaida was the Lord’s doing. Commit the journey to Him, and trust that the One who created the body knows how to restore it.

Healing from past hurts works much the same way. Those emotional wounds can feel like they shout over your son, dictating how he sees himself and others. But just as Paul once counted all his former gains as rubbish to gain Christ, and kept counting them loss thirty years later, so your son can lay down the weight of old pain. Dwelling on what someone did, or on failures that linger in the memory, is living in the past, and it will encumber the soul until it is surrendered. Jesus came to bind up the brokenhearted. That doesn’t mean pretending the hurt never happened; it means handing it to Him so that it no longer holds power. Whether the healing is instant or a process, it is just as divine. Let this be the moment when past wrongs are counted as loss for the surpassing worth of knowing Christ, so that your son can press forward, not dragging those chains, but running after what lies ahead. The tail doesn’t have to lead; Christ makes us the head in Him.

Take heart: the Lord does not abhor those who cry out to Him. He is the God who heals, who breaks curses, and who makes all things new. Your son’s body, mind, and spirit are not beyond His reach. Keep looking to Jesus, who bore our infirmities and carried our sorrows. That finished work is the ground of every answer you seek.
