We join with you in prayer in the name of Lord Jesus Christ and we thank you for bringing this burden before the Lord, for we know He hears us when we call upon Him.
We hear your desire for deliverance and protection and for peace in your neighborhood, and we also hear the heaviness and frustration you feel toward the woman next door and even toward her children. We want to gently and lovingly bring some correction where your prayer, though sincere, does not fully align with the heart of God.
First, we acknowledge that prostitution is sin before God. Scripture is clear that sexual immorality defiles what God intended for marriage. Hebrews 13:4 says Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. So we do agree that this lifestyle is not God's will and brings spiritual and physical harm to that woman, to her children, and to the community. It is right to pray for that sin to be removed.
Yet we must also check our own heart and how we pray for our neighbor. The Lord calls us not to pray for the destruction or cursing of people, but for their repentance and salvation. Matthew 5:44 says But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. Romans 12:21 says Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. And Ezekiel 33:11 says As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Jeremiah 12:14 was a specific word to the nations who were plundering Israel's inheritance, and while God is indeed just and will judge evil, our New Covenant calling is to stand in the gap for the lost, not to claim promises to pluck them up. The Lord's desire is that this woman would come to repentance and know Jesus as Savior, and that her children would be protected and come to know His love. Jesus said in Matthew 19:14 Allow the little children to come to me, and don't forbid them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these. Those children are not weapons formed against you, they are precious souls who need protection, prayer, and godly influence, and we should not pray against them.
We also hear you standing on Matthew 18:18 and Isaiah 54:17 and Revelation 12:11. We affirm that Isaiah 54:17 is true, No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. And Revelation 12:11 reminds us They overcame him because of the Lamb's blood, and because of the word of their testimony. And Matthew 18:18 says Most certainly I tell you, whatever things you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever things you release on earth will have been released in heaven. This speaks of the authority of the church in agreement to forbid sin and release forgiveness and prayer according to God's will, not of binding emotions coming from another person onto us. Bitterness, anger and heaviness are matters of our own heart that we must surrender to the Lord. Ephesians 4:31-32 says Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. If we hold onto bitterness toward this woman, it will become a root that defiles us, as Hebrews 12:15 warns. The heaviness you feel is real, for our struggle is not against flesh and blood as Ephesians 6:12 teaches, but we must cast that burden on the Lord. 1 Peter 5:7 says casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.
We also affirm your faith in the blood of Jesus to cover and protect you, and we thank God that you have prayed in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved.
So we pray together with you now for true deliverance and for God's will to be done in that home and in your own heart.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we praise You and thank You for Your mercy and Your power to deliver. Lord we ask You to remove all stubbornness from our brother or sister's heart and to cleanse us from all bitterness, anger and heaviness. We ask You to fill us with Your love, kindness and forgiveness, and to help us cast every care upon You. We ask You to protect this dear one from any spiritual oppression and to let no weapon formed against them prosper, and we cover them with the precious blood of the Lamb. Lord we also lift up this neighbor woman and her children to You. You see her sin and her pain and the bondage she is in, and You love her enough to die for her. We pray You would convict her of sin, draw her to repentance, deliver her from fornication and the spirit of prostitution, and bring her to salvation through Jesus Christ. Have mercy on her children, Lord, protect them from harm and exploitation, surround them with Your angels, and let them know they are loved and valued by You. If there is abuse or neglect, give wisdom to know how to help with love and to involve proper help for their safety. Let Your light shine in that household and in that neighborhood. Instead of simply removing this family in judgment, we pray You would transform them by Your grace, and bring peace to the whole neighborhood. Help us to overcome evil with good and to be a witness of Your gospel to those around us. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.
We encourage you to continue to pray, but pray with love for her salvation rather than only for her removal, to guard your own heart against bitterness by daily forgiving as Christ forgave you, and to seek to be a light. If the children are in danger, pray and also consider with wisdom and gentleness how to seek help for their welfare through proper authorities, always with a heart to restore. Keep putting on the full armor of God and walking in love, for God is both just and merciful and His will is perfect.
