Beloved of All
I thank God for your honest and earnest prayer and for your desire to walk in freedom and truth before Jesus Christ. Your longing to be set free if this relationship is not God's will for you is right and pleasing to Him, and He hears you when you call on His name.
You are standing on the right promise when you claim John 8:36. If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed. That freedom is not a feeling or a ritual, but the work of Jesus Himself through His death and resurrection. When you have put your trust in Him, no transfer of spirits, no influence from another person, and no practice of darkness can own you or cling to you against His will. You are covered by the precious blood of the Lamb, and as Revelation 12:11 teaches, we overcome by that blood and by the word of our testimony.
You asked about strongholds and about witchcraft coming through this man's family. Scripture is very clear about these things. God says that rebellion against His word is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry. A heart that rejects what God has said opens itself to deception, and that is why Saul, who first rebelled against the word of the Lord, later turned to a medium for guidance. God forbids divination, card readings, mediums and every attempt to seek spiritual knowledge apart from Him. Those practices are not harmless and they are not empty. They are rebellion against God and must be turned from completely. You are wise to recognize the danger and to want no part of it. You do not need to be afraid that something can attach itself to you without your knowledge when you are abiding in Christ, but you do need to stay far from those practices and not open any door to them.
You also mentioned binding and loosing and the pulling down of strongholds. The Bible teaches in Matthew 18:18 that God has given authority to His people to agree with heaven in prayer, and in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 that though we live in the flesh, we do not war with fleshly weapons. Our weapons are mighty through God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. That means deliverance does not come through conventional or fleshly means. God brings deliverance by supernatural means as we trust Him, submit to Him, and bring every thought into obedience to Christ. You do not need to make a pretzel out of the enemy in your own strength. You come to God in prayer, you stand in His Word, and He does the work.
You asked Jesus to convict this man for calling the Bible a filthy book. That is right to pray. The Bible is the holy Word of God, and to speak of it with contempt is serious. Pray that God will soften his heart, open his eyes, and bring him to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. At the same time, Scripture warns us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. If a man despises the Word of God, that reveals the direction of his heart. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and any sexual relationship or living together belongs only within that covenant. Outside of that, God calls His people to purity and to separation. Do not ask God to bless a relationship that is not built on faith in Christ and obedience to His Word. Ask Him to make His will unmistakably clear, and be willing to obey it even if it means a painful separation.
You asked that any ungodly spiritual tie be broken if this man means you harm or would lead you astray. That is a biblical prayer. Ask God to sever any influence that is not from Him and to keep you close to Himself. He is the one who redeems the soul out of all adversity. He can withhold you from harm and keep your soul precious in His sight. If this relationship would draw you away from Jesus, pray for the courage to step away completely, to set clear boundaries, and to seek godly counsel and fellowship where you can be supported and held accountable.
So I pray with you now. Lord Jesus, I thank You for this dear one who loves You and wants to honor You. I ask that You set her free indeed and make Your will for this relationship plain. Break every stronghold and every high thing that has exalted itself against the knowledge of God in her life and in this man's life. Let no weapon formed against her prosper. Wash her and keep her under Your blood. Convict this man of his sin and of his words against Your holy Word, and grant him repentance and faith if he does not know You. If this relationship is not from You, spiritually disconnect it and give her strength to walk away and to remain pure before You. Guard her from all witchcraft and divination and from every work of darkness in his family. Fill her with Your Holy Spirit, with Your peace, and with a deep hunger for Your Word. Teach her to hope in God and to trust Your supernatural deliverance day by day. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray, amen.
Continue to stay in the Scriptures daily, pray in the name of Jesus, walk in fellowship with mature believers who hold to the historic biblical ethic, and keep clear boundaries in this relationship until God gives you clear direction.
