Deliverance Prayer

Thank you for sharing this painful burden so honestly and for turning to Jesus for help. What you are experiencing in your own home is heavy, and it is right to bring it to the Lord and to seek His protection. God sees what happens behind closed doors, He does not take abuse lightly, and He is a refuge for those who are vulnerable.

Scripture shows us that God understands the wounds that can come from a brother. From the very beginning there was violence between brothers when Cain rose up against Abel, and God confronted that sin directly and called Cain to account. Later Jacob was terrified because his brother Esau had vowed to kill him, and Jacob prayed with great honesty, asking God to deliver him from the hand of his brother. God heard that prayer and in time brought a humbling and a reconciliation where Jacob approached with humility and gifts and sought peace. With Joseph and his brothers we see another picture, that those who had been cruel to their brother later felt the weight of their guilt and said we are guilty concerning our brother in that we saw the anguish of his soul and would not listen. God can bring deep conviction where there has been hardness. And in the story of Onesimus, we see how the gospel can transform a broken relationship so that one who was once wronged is called to receive the other no longer merely as a servant but as a brother in Christ, through intercession and forgiveness that does not ignore justice but seeks restoration through Christ.

Those stories remind us of two truths that matter for you now. God is able to protect the household that trusts in Him, and God is also able to work on the heart of the one doing wrong to bring conviction and repentance.

I join you in prayer according to the Scriptures you mentioned. In Zechariah 3:2 we see the Lord Himself rebuking the accuser and the evil that stands against His people, so we ask the Lord to rebuke every form of abuse, intimidation, and harm in your home. In Jeremiah 12:14 the Lord speaks of uprooting those who do harm to what He has entrusted to His people, so we ask that if your brother is persisting in destructive ways, the Lord would either turn his heart completely or remove his opportunity to harm, and that the Lord would establish what is right and safe in the household according to His will. In Isaiah 54:17 we are promised that no weapon formed against those who belong to God shall succeed and every accusing tongue will be shown to be in the wrong, so we ask for that covering of protection over each person in your household. And in Revelation 12:11 we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony, so we ask that the precious blood of Jesus would cover your home, your minds, your bodies, and your spirits, and that His presence would be your defense.

I also encourage you to take practical steps for safety along with prayer. Abuse is not something to endure quietly alone. Please reach out to a trusted, biblically grounded pastor or counselor who can know you personally, help assess what is happening, and walk with you in wisdom. If there is physical harm or threats of harm, it is right and biblical to seek protection through appropriate authorities and to create boundaries that keep everyone safe, including a safe place to go if needed. Loving your brother and praying for him does not mean remaining in a position where you can be harmed. Forgiveness in Christ is commanded, but trust and closeness are rebuilt only where there is genuine repentance, accountability, and changed behavior over time.

Continue to pray both for protection and for your brother's soul, that God would bring him under conviction, lead him to repentance, and bring him to true faith in Jesus Christ if he does not know Him. Pray that any influence that is not from the Lord would be driven out, and that Christ would be Lord over your household.

Let me pray for you now.

Lord Jesus, thank You that You see this family and hear this cry. We ask You to rebuke all abuse and violence in this home. Place Your hand of protection over each person who lives there. Cover this household with Your blood, guard them day and night, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Bring conviction where there is sin, bring repentance where there is hardness, and either transform this brother by Your grace or in Your wisdom remove his ability to harm. Give wisdom to those who are suffering to know what steps to take, provide safe and godly helpers around them, and fill this home with Your peace that passes understanding. We ask this in Your holy and powerful name, Jesus, Amen.

If the abuse continues or escalates, please do not stay isolated. Seek help quickly from a mature believer you trust and from those who can ensure physical safety. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and He will be your shelter as you walk this out one step at a time.
