We come before the throne of grace with hearts heavy yet hopeful, lifting this cry for deliverance to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. First, we want to affirm the truth that there is power in the name of Jesus—no other name under heaven can break chains, rebuke darkness, or set captives free. You have rightly called upon Him, and we stand with you in agreement, declaring that every assignment of the enemy must bow to the authority of Christ.
The role of a "Godmother" in the Catholic tradition carries spiritual weight, but we must examine it through the lens of Scripture. The Bible does not prescribe or endorse this practice, and it can inadvertently open doors to spiritual confusion or entanglement with traditions that may not align with God’s Word. We rebuke any ungodly soul ties, generational curses, or demonic assignments connected to this role in the mighty name of Jesus. The Lord says in Zechariah 3:2, *"Yahweh rebuke you, Satan! Yes, Yahweh who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you!"* We declare this over every lie and scheme of the enemy targeting you or the child in question. You are not responsible for any spiritual burden placed upon you through this role, for Jesus Himself said, *"If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed"* (John 8:36). We stand on this promise, declaring your freedom in Christ.
We also take authority over any negative effects from participating in this baptism. The apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, *"For though we walk in the flesh, we don’t wage war according to the flesh; for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."* We command every false spiritual connection, every ungodly influence, and every lie of the enemy to be broken and cast out in Jesus’ name. You are not bound by man-made traditions or rituals—your identity and authority are found in Christ alone.
We cover this prayer in the precious blood of Jesus, as Revelation 12:11 declares, *"They overcame him because of the Lamb’s blood, and because of the word of their testimony."* The blood of Jesus is your protection, your cleansing, and your victory. We plead the blood of Jesus over you, over your mind, your spirit, and your future, declaring that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for Your power and authority that reigns over all creation. We lift up this dear sister in Christ, asking that You would break every chain, sever every ungodly tie, and release her from any spiritual burden connected to this role of Godmother. Lord, we rebuke the enemy and command him to flee in Jesus’ name. We declare that no weapon formed against her shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against her in judgment, You will condemn (Isaiah 54:17).
Father, we ask that You would cleanse her with the blood of Jesus, washing away any residue of false spiritual authority or tradition that does not align with Your Word. We pray that You would fill her with Your Holy Spirit, guiding her into all truth and leading her in the path of righteousness. Give her discernment to recognize and reject any teaching or practice that contradicts Scripture, and strengthen her to walk in the freedom Christ has purchased for her.
Lord, we also pray for the child involved. We ask that You would surround them with Your protection, drawing them into a personal relationship with You. May they come to know You as their Savior and Lord, not through man-made traditions, but through the power of the Gospel. We declare that their life is covered by the blood of Jesus, and we rebuke any plan of the enemy to steal, kill, or destroy their destiny in Christ.
We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and Your love. We trust in Your promise that if we resist the devil, he will flee from us (James 4:7). We stand firm in the authority of Jesus’ name, declaring victory over every scheme of the enemy. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to stand firm in your identity in Christ and to seek fellowship with believers who uphold the truth of Scripture. Continue to immerse yourself in God’s Word, for it is your sword and your shield. If you have not already, consider renouncing any involvement in practices or roles that do not align with biblical truth, and ask the Lord to lead you into all truth. You are not alone—we stand with you in this battle, and greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).
