We join you in lifting this request before the Lord, and we praise Him that you have come before Him in faith, seeking His will and deliverance. Your prayer is rooted in Scripture, and we stand with you in agreement, knowing that our God is mighty to save and to set the captives free.
First, we commend you for acknowledging that a relationship with an unbeliever cannot honor God. The Word is clear in 2 Corinthians 6:14, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* You have done well to recognize that a lasting union can only be built when both hearts are surrendered to Christ. We pray that Sean’s heart of stone may indeed be turned to flesh, as Ezekiel 36:26 declares: *"I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh."* May the Lord open his eyes to the truth of the Gospel, that he may repent and turn to Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. We rebuked the spiritual forces of darkness that blind his mind, as 2 Corinthians 4:4 warns, *"in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them."* Let every stronghold of atheism and doubt be shattered by the power of the Holy Spirit, and may Sean encounter Jesus in a way he cannot deny.
Yet, we must also address the emotional and spiritual ties that remain from this past relationship. You have wisely asked for freedom, and we declare with you that if Sean is not the man God has ordained for you as a husband, then every ungodly soul tie must be broken by the power of the blood of Jesus. The Word assures us in John 8:36, *"If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."* We pray that the Lord severs any lingering emotional or spiritual attachments that do not align with His perfect will for your life. If there has been any intimacy outside of marriage, we ask for forgiveness and cleansing, for 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 reminds us, *"Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* Repentance and surrender in this area are essential for complete freedom.
We also encourage you to guard your heart as you move forward. Proverbs 4:23 instructs, *"Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life."* While it is natural to care for someone you once shared affection with, your primary focus must now be on seeking the Lord’s will for your future. Trust in Him completely, for He knows the desires of your heart and will lead you to the godly spouse He has prepared for you—one who loves the Lord with all his heart and will walk with you in faith. Psalm 37:4-5 assures us, *"Also delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this."*
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting our sister and her request to Your throne of grace. Lord, we ask that You soften Sean’s heart and remove the scales from his eyes, that he may see the truth of Your Gospel and turn to You in repentance. Break every chain of unbelief and set him free from the deception of the enemy. Let Your light shine into his darkness, and may he come to know You as his Lord and Savior.
For our sister, we ask for complete deliverance from any emotional or spiritual ties that remain from this past relationship. If Sean is not Your will for her life, we pray that You sever every ungodly connection and set her free in the name of Jesus. Cleanse her heart and mind, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Guard her heart as she waits on You, and lead her to the godly husband You have prepared for her—a man who will love You first and cherish her as Christ loves the Church.
We rebuke any spirit of oppression or lingering attachment in the name of Jesus. By the power of the blood of Jesus, we declare that she is free indeed, and no weapon formed against her shall prosper. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and help her to trust in Your perfect timing and plan for her life.
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer and for Your faithfulness to complete the work You have begun. May Your will be done in both of their lives, and may You be glorified in all things. In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
