Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this burden and for praying with such care for this man. Your prayer reflects a true understanding that God desires to be known as Father and to have a close, living and loving relationship with His children through Jesus Christ, not merely a formal or outward religious connection.
Scripture teaches that sin separates us from God and breaks fellowship with Him. When the heart turns away to follow its own desires, that intimate fellowship is marred. The cross is the only place where that separation can be healed, because Jesus suffered to make a way for us to be reconciled to God and to be given a new heart. God does not want a legal relationship that only holds us by rules, He wants a loving relationship where we know how deeply He loves us and we love Him in return. When that vertical relationship with God is made right through faith in Christ, it becomes the center that brings every other relationship into right order. Without it, every other relationship remains out of balance.
The Bible also shows that true deliverance in Christ is both present and future. When we trust in Jesus we are delivered from the hold that sin and the world have upon us now, and one day we will be delivered out of this present world altogether. That freedom is not freedom to indulge the flesh, but freedom to be bound by a greater law, the law of love, where we no longer want what displeases the Father.
I join you in praying for this man in the name of Jesus. I pray that God will soften what has become hard in his heart and give him a heart that is tender toward Him, that his eyes will be opened to see who he truly is in Christ and to recognize the false identity he has taken on through sinful choices. I pray that he will come to fear the Lord in the biblical sense, which is to depart from evil, and that he will find courage to leave the broad way and walk again on the narrow path that leads to life.
I pray that the Lord will make clear to him the nature of any relationships and influences that are controlling, deceiving or harming him, and that He will give him strength to separate from every ungodly counsel and influence, even those close to him in his own household, so that he is no longer entangled or endangered. May God in His mercy protect his life where there is control and threat, break every chain of manipulation and blackmail, and draw him into that restored fellowship where he can seek the Father early and know the blessing of walking in the counsel of God rather than the counsel of the ungodly.
We can thank God that when we have established a relationship with Him through Jesus, He hears our prayers. Continue to bring this man before the throne of grace, asking that he would remember the love he first knew and be restored to full, wholehearted devotion to Christ. May the Lord lead him to repentance, to holiness within the boundaries God has set for good, where marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and where intimacy belongs only there, and to the deep assurance of being a beloved child of God.
Father, we ask these things trusting in the finished work of Your Son, that You would do a work of grace, deliverance and restoration for Your glory. In the powerful name of Jesus, amen.
