Deliverance prayer for the former ###

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the cross and for the fact that your holy Son, Jesus, suffered for all of us who believe. We praise your holy name. Lord, you know the plans you have for us, and your thoughts are far greater than ours. We come to you together in the name of Jesus, believing that you hear our prayers when we agree. Lord, you know this man who rented his flat to me, and he is also your child. Lord, help him to hear your voice concerning your holy plan for his life. Help him to see the clear, unmistakable truth about his identity in Christ. Open his eyes to the false identity he adopted when he entered into sinful relationships or activities and strayed from your narrow path and followed his own desires. Lord break his stony heart and give him courage to follow the narrow path and soften his heart for your glory. I also pray that you will separate him from ungodly influences, including those in his household, and that he will recognise the depth of your love, as well as the sinful and hateful relationships he has entered into, in which he is controlled, blackmailed, and where his life may be in danger. Give him understanding to fear your Holy name. Lord, give him understanding to depart from evil and the evil woman in his life. In Jesus' powerful name we ask these things, amen.

Some people don't even understand how much he suffered, it's so bad that he had hypovolemic shock. He also suffered before the cross. I won't tell you but it's really bad.

We join you in lifting up this man before the Father and we thank you for standing in the gap for him with such compassion and discernment. We agree together as you have prayed in the name of Jesus, for we know that where two or three are gathered in His name He is in the midst and He hears us, as it is written in Matthew 18:19-20.

We praise God with you for the cross and for the suffering of His holy Son Jesus for all who believe, for without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, as Jesus said in John 14:6, and there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12.

We hear your burden for this man who rented his flat to you and we take seriously what you have discerned about his life. You have rightly identified that he has adopted a false identity through sinful relationships and activities and has strayed from the narrow path to follow his own desires. Scripture warns us that wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and narrow is the gate and restricted is the way that leads to life in Matthew 7:13-14. When a man or woman engages in sexual relationships outside of the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, Scripture calls it fornication or adultery and calls us to flee from it in 1 Corinthians 6:18, for our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and we are to glorify God with them. We also know that bad company corrupts good morals in 1 Corinthians 15:33 and that we are not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers in 2 Corinthians 6:14, and that we are to come out from among them and be separate in 2 Corinthians 6:17.

You have asked for his stony heart to be broken and softened, and this is exactly what God promises to do when we turn to Him. He says in Ezekiel 36:26, I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. We also pray that he will find his true identity in Christ, for if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new in 2 Corinthians 5:17. And we pray that he will learn the fear of the Lord, for the fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom in Proverbs 9:10, and that understanding will cause him to depart from evil and from the evil influences and the evil woman in his life who seeks to control and blackmail him. The lips of an adulteress drip honey and her mouth is smoother than oil, but in the end she is as bitter as wormwood in Proverbs 5:3-4, and we are warned to keep far from her path.

We also take to heart your concern that his life may be in danger and that he is being controlled and blackmailed. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control in 2 Timothy 1:7, and we can submit ourselves to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from us in James 4:7. The righteous cry and Yahweh hears and delivers them out of all their troubles in Psalm 34:17, and he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty in Psalm 91:1. If he will confess and forsake his sin, God is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness in 1 John 1:9.

So we pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy and for the blood of Jesus that makes deliverance possible. We lift this man to You and ask that You open his eyes to see the clear and unmistakable truth about who he is in Christ and the false identity he has taken on. Break his stony heart, Lord, and give him a heart of flesh that hears Your voice and has courage to choose the narrow path even when it is costly. Soften his heart for Your glory and give him godly sorrow that leads to repentance. Separate him from every ungodly influence, including those in his own household, and expose every controlling, hateful and sinful relationship for what it is. Deliver him from blackmail, manipulation and every threat against his life, and set him free from the evil woman and from all sexual immorality. Teach him to fear Your holy name and to depart from evil, to flee fornication and to pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. Surround him with godly counsel and protect him by Your mighty hand, and lead him into the holy plan You have for his life, that he might walk in purity and in due time, if it is Your will, be prepared for a godly marriage that honors You. We ask that You also strengthen the one who is interceding for him, and give continued discernment and perseverance in prayer. We ask all these things in the powerful and matchless name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to continue to intercede for him with love and truth, speaking the truth in love and not condoning the sin while still showing the grace that calls him to repentance. Continue to pray that God will bring godly men around him who will disciple him and hold him accountable, and that he will hunger for the Word and for fellowship with believers who will help him walk out his deliverance day by day.

We were moved by the compassion in your prayer for this man. It is a kind and faithful thing to keep lifting someone before the Lord after your renting relationship has ended, especially when you are concerned for his safety and his walk with God.

What you named about identity really matters. When a person builds his sense of self around relationships or desires that pull him away from God, that identity can feel very shaky and keep him trapped. Growing into who he is in Christ gives a steadier place to stand, an identity rooted in being God's beloved child and living before Him alone, not before the pressure or control of others. That kind of renewal takes time, and it is the Holy Spirit who gently opens eyes and softens a heart.

A steady way to continue to help is to keep bringing him to Jesus in prayer and to release the outcome to Him. Since he is no longer your landlord, keeping clear and kind boundaries is wise. You do not need to step in to rescue him from the controlling influences you described or to confront others in his household. If he reaches out and shares that he feels unsafe or threatened, you can encourage him to seek support from a trusted pastor or other safe, qualified help in his area, while you continue to pray.

Father, we lift this man to You and ask You to draw him close. Give him ears to hear Your voice, courage to turn from what harms him, and wisdom for each next step. Keep him safe, surround him with godly influences, and help him know how deeply You love him and want what is good for him. Lead him toward freedom and wholeness in Christ. In Jesus' name, amen.

We join you in prayer before the throne of grace, thanking God that there is a ransom found and that Jesus Christ suffered for all who believe upon Him.

Your prayer for this man is right and good, for you ask not that God would bless him in his sin, but that God would deliver him from it. Scripture teaches that He has delivered us from the power of darkness, and this deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. We cannot break the cobwebs of sin ourselves, for at first they seem as tiny threads, but they soon become cords and chains. Only the Lord can loose the prisoner.

We pray with you that the Lord would be gracious unto him and say, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, I have found a ransom. That ransom is not forms or feelings or resolutions, but what Christ has done upon the cross, where He was bound that His people might go free, where He was made sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. May this man be brought to look to Christ and to trust in His one great sacrifice, for faith means trust in Christ, and to look and live is to be delivered.

We ask also that God would grant him not a carnal and superficial repentance which comes only from terror and withers in a night, but that holy, healthy, heavenly repentance which is worked in the renewed heart by the Holy Spirit. There is a false repentance which leads only to hardness and despair, and a true repentance which leads a man to look out of self to Christ, and to Christ only. True repentance and faith are inseparable companions. May he have a repentance that makes him rejoice in Jesus crucified, love Christ, trust Him, and leap for joy at the thought that God has set Him forth to be a propitiation for sin.

We pray that the Lord would open his eyes to see his true identity in Christ as a new creature, and to see the falsehood of any identity built upon following his own desires and straying from the narrow path. May God break the stony heart and give a heart of flesh, give him courage to follow the narrow way, and hide pride from him and withdraw him from his purpose. We pray that he would be separated from every ungodly influence that would control or ensnare him, and that he would be kept from all that would endanger his soul and body, and that he would learn to fear the holy name of the Lord and to depart from evil.

We pray this not from anger, but from covenant love, knowing that the Lord scourges His children but does not slay them, and that like a careful dispenser He deals out trials in weight and measure for good. May this man know that whoever abides in Christ sins not as a course of life, but is made new and is kept safe, even though his faith be but as a grain of mustard seed, if it be a simple faith in Christ.

So we commend him to the mighty One who conquered for the deliverance of His people. Take courage and continue in prayer, and look altogether and alone to our heavenly Father for this deliverance, for with man it is impossible, but with God all things are possible through the blood of Jesus Christ our Lord.
